PLAYERS TO WATCH
Coen Phillips, 6-2, 226-pounds, LB, Sr.
Phillips brings much needed stability and experienced to a defensive group that was hit hard by graduation. With inexperience at the front seven, Phillips will be a leader for this young Rebel defense. With size and speed, Phillips can cover the field from one sideline to the other. Last season, Phillips totaled 101 tackles with 48 of those solo tackles and three for a loss.
Ben Harris, 6-1, 281-pounds, OL, Sr.
Tascosa’s offensive line is always its most valuable unit in a run-heavy offense. With that said, it helps coach Ken Plunk that the anchor of the group in the center, Harris, is back after a solid season as a junior in 2025. With Harris helping pave the way, the Rebels were able to gash opponents for by averaging over 300 yards on the ground per contest.
Toby Torres, 5-9, 163-pounds, ATH, Jr.
Torres hasn’t taken a varsity snap yet but he’s a player that coaches love. Coming up from the junior varsity, Torres can play multiple positions on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Offensively, the speedy junior will be utilized in multiple ways, and defensively, expect Torres to be used in the secondary and then counted on during special teams.
