PLAYERS TO WATCH

Laney Jones, 5-10, outside hitter, Sr.

The Lady Eagles heart and soul returns for her senior season to lead Canyon. Jones is one of the top players in all the Texas Panhandle as the District 4-4A Offensive MVP is coming off a junior campaign that saw her total 422 kills to go with 295 digs and 32 aces.

Brylee McElroy, 5-7, setter, Sr.

One of the veterans back is McElroy. With depth at setter, McElroy will be counted on as a captain for the Lady Eagles and player expected to have her teammates in the right positions. McElroy does her job on both sides. Offensively, she dished out 406 assists last season, and then hustled for 217 digs on defense.

Klair Stone, 5-9, outside hitter, Soph.

Stone was called upon and answered the call as a freshman on the varsity for a Canyon Lady Eagles team that went three rounds deep during the UIL Class 4A Division II playoffs last season. Stone is a player that coach Sara Morath deems accountable and proved that in her first year with her athleticism. Stone landed 122 kills at the net and knocked down 13 blocks. She also finished with 175 digs.
