Colt Cruth, Canyon baseball, Sr.

on the diamond: Cruth put together big wins last week to stay atop the District 4-4A standings beating West Plains in an 8-7 walk-off and Pampa 5-2. Cruth had a gutsy effort on the hill against the Wolves getting the nod on the mound. The senior battled and kept the Eagles in the game going six innings allowing only two earned runs with three strikeouts. At the plate, Cruth delivered as well going 2-for-5 including the walk-off double. Against Pampa, Cruth also scored a run.

On the season, Cruth is 3-0 on the hill with a 1.60 ERA racking up 32 strikeouts. He’s hitting .368 at the plate with 14 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Coach Jed Anderson: “It’s always good to win and we feel we’re coming together and playing as a team to get those wins. Colt pitched well for us last week. He filled the zone and trusted his defense and gave us a chance. Then he had the walk-off. He is the type of player to always put us in good situations and works hard to be a leader.”

Cruth: “We are a team that is getting on a roll and taking it inning by inning. We never overlook anyone and we’re growing together each time we step on the field. Every time I’m on the bump or at the plate I just want to do my job and help my team win games. I know we have a great defense and just as good of offense. I think we’ll get better as we get more confident.”
