Three weeks into the 2019 football season and 10 teams remain with perfect records across the Amarillo-area
A handful of teams are right where many thought they’d be why there have been some unexpected surprises.
When breaking down by districts, the strength is shown in 3-4A Division I, 3-3A Division II and 1-1A Division I.
Here’s a look at all 10 unbeaten teams.

Canyon (3-0): The Eagles have picked up where they left off last season. In three wins, the Canyon defense has allowed only 160 yards a contest. Offensively, running back Aidan Hildinger has been hard to stop with 420 yards and six touchdowns in three wins.

Dumas (3-0): The Demons have shown balance on offense but it’s their defense that’s turning heads. Dumas blanked Class 5A Wichita Falls High in a grinding, 7-0 victory Friday night. On the year, the Demons are allowing 171 yards a game and just 35.6 yards a game on the ground.

Bushland (3-0): It’s been a fast start for a Falcons team that can score points. Bushland is averaging 42.6 points a game. Quarterback Jared Thomas is on a roll to start the year with 712 passing yards and 12 TD tosses.

Canadian (3-0): Despite being banged up the No. 3-ranked Wildcats are exactly where fans expected them to be. The offense has taken a different shape, however, an aggressive defense has been stingy of late, shutting out Perryton on Friday.

Friona (3-0): The Chieftains are another team flying way under the radar so far but anyone in their way has suffered the same fate. Coach Jimmy Arias has a squad that can score points — putting up over 60 points in three games — and a defense that’s allowing 8.6 ppg. What a combo.

Spearman (3-0): It’s a quite 3-0 start to the year for Spearman. The Lynx have yet to get into the teeth of their schedule, but they beating who they’re suppose to. In victories over Memphis, Sanford-Fritch and Sunray, Spearman is averaging 50 points a game.

Panhandle (3-0): What a start for the Panthers and coach Dane Ashley. Panhandle is physical, disciplined and has the pieces for a deep playoff push. A 54-8 route of Childress opened eyes to many across the state.

Vega (3-0): This maybe the best team coach Jason Porton has put on the field in his seven years. The ground attack is the Longhorns bread and butter for an offense putting up a whopping on opponents, averaging 65.6 points on the year.

McLean (3-0): The defending Class 1A Division I state champions have picked up where they left off last season. Through the first three games, running back Ben Crockett and his team has rolled over Blum, Groom and Johnson City, extending the Tigers win steak to a Texas Panhandle-best 18 straight.

White Deer (3-0): The Bucks have been tagged with tagged the No. 1 ranking by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football state-wide ranking. The ranking hasn’t had an effect in the first couple weekswith impressive wins over Spur and Paducah.
