Colton Mills, Dumas, QB, Soph.
Mills celebrated in more ways than one to close out the regular season helping his Dumas Demons team punch a playoff ticket with a 52-12 win at Pampa. On top of his 14-of-19 passing for 389 yards with four touchdowns, the sophomore sensation was able to break the Demons single season passing mark with 2,689 yards in 10 games.
Slade Russell, West Plains, RB, Soph.
Like his West Plains Wolves, Russell is getting better by the week. Behind Russell’s huge night in the cold, wet, rain against Hereford, the Wolves secured the outright District 2-4A Division I championship downing the Whitefaces 45-14. Russell chewed up the Hereford defense especially in the second half finishing the night toting the rock 20 times for 228 yards with a touchdown.
Wyatt Davis & Julian Dominguez, Canadian, LB-DB
The dynamic duo of senior leaders Wyatt Davis and Julian Dominguez lifted the Canadian Wildcats to their 10th district championship in 11 years. The Canadian defense did its job the entire night during a 28-7 win at Childress with Davis and Dominguez leading the way. Davis finished with 22 tackles, seven of those solo and three sacks. Dominguez, who also had 84 yards receiving with a touchdown, made 13 tackles, three solo, and had a 95-yard pick six.
T.J. Tillman, Tascosa, WR, Sr.
The dynamic Tascosa receiver showed his speed and mismatch ability against Amarillo High during a Rebels 34-29 victory against their arch-rival Friday night. Tillman made life miserable for the Sandies secondary snagging four catches for 129 yards including two touchdowns of 49 and 21 yards.
Cooper Schilling, Perryton, QB, Soph.
The dual-threat sophomore led the Rangers to a 41-7 blowout against Borger earning the Rangers the second seed out of District 2-4A Division II. Schilling was superb from start to finish against the Bulldogs going 13-of-21 through the air for 172 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
Kaison Benton, Randall, QB, Jr.
Benton continues to only get better and that showed during a 43-9 win over rival Canyon to help the Raiders clinch the No. 2-seed out of District 2-4A Division I. Benton was on point through most of the game going 16-of-20 for 205 yards with a pair of touchdowns. The junior added 28 yards rushing with another score.
Angel Lara, Bovina, RB-LB, Sr.
Lara made sure his Bovina Mustangs were going to the playoffs by completely taking over the game during a 12-7 win or go home victory against Vega on Thursday. Offensively, Lara scored both touchdowns finishing with 156 yards on 23 carries. On the defensive side, Lara was all over the field making 16 total tackles, 10 of those solo.
Julius Atherton, Wheeler, RB, Sr.
Atherton took the Battle of Wheeler County more serious than anyone and made sure Shamrock knew who the better team was. Atherton bullied the Irish defense during a 51-14 victory running the ball 22 times for 255 yards with two touchdowns.
Aaron Rosales, Friona, RB, Jr.
Friona won its final two games of the year to not only make the playoffs but earn the No. 3-seed out of District 1-3A Division II. Rosalas was a big reason why during a 59-6 win to close out the regular season against Dimmitt on Friday, chewing up the Bobcat defense for 185 yards rushing on 21 carries with two scores.
Stran Henderson, McLean, RB, Soph.
McLean gave Motley County everything they wanted but ended up falling short 58-38 on Friday, but Henderson did everything he could with a dazzling performance. The Tigers leaned on Henderson the entire night giving him the ball 39 times and he made the most of it grounding out 323 yards with five touchdowns.
