The bi-district round of the UIL High School football playoffs brought some big victories and outstanding individual performances from athletes across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. Be sure to take a look at some of those highlight outings from another great Thursday and Friday night.
Julian Reese II, Palo Duro, QB, Jr.
Behind Reese, the Palo Duro Dons won their 10th straight game and earned their first playoff win for the first time in 11 years, and did it in convincing fashion with a 56-7 victory over El Paso Hanks on Thursday. Reese was electric from his signal caller position, going 18-of-23 for 341 yards passing throwing five touchdown passes.

Hudson Swan, Spearman, RB, Jr.
The Spearman Lynx punished New Deal 42-21 during a UIL Class 2A Division I game by using a heavy run attack. Swan led that ground arsenal, toting the rock 13 times for 151 yards with three touchdowns, and caught five passes for 43 yards.
Blake Robinson, Dumas, WR, Sr.
Better known by his nickname the “Waffle House” because he’s always open, Robinson was a complete mismatch for the El Paso Riverside secondary during a Dumas 83-35 opening round victory. Robinson finished the contest snagging nine catches for 165 yards with two touchdowns, and broke the school record for career catches with 78 and receiving yards with 1,355.
Deuce Moore, Lubbock Monterey, Sr.
The Plainsman senior makes this list for a second week in row and deservingly so. Moore put Monterey on his back during a 50-32 Class 5A Division I bi-district win at El Paso Americas, chewing up Americas for 247 yards rushing on 27 carries with three touchdowns.
Koen Galligan, Childress, QB, Jr.
Galligan did an excellent job of managing an offensive explosion as the Childress Bobcats lit up the scoreboard against Littlefield 84-34 in the opening round. Galligan took control of the passing game, going 8-of-13 for 167 yards with four touchdown tosses, and exploded for 100 yards on only eight carries with a TD.
Angel Lara, Bovina, RB-LB, Sr.
Bovina had one of the more highlight wins of the first round. The No. 4-seeded Mustangs of District 1-2A Division II were able to stun District 2-2A Division II champion, Hale Center, 36-24, on Friday night. Lara, a senior leader for Bovina, did everything he could to make that happen. On defense, Lara flew all over the field and even returned a pick-six 43-yards for a score. Offensively, piled up 78 yards on 23 carries.
Broxton Robinson, Panhandle, QB, Sr.
Thanks to a big second half, the Panhandle Panthers pounced on Post for a lopsided 35-18 bi-district win. Robinson wasn’t going to be stopped by air or with his legs. The bruising dual-threat QB decimated the Antelopes, going 12-of-16 for 282 yards passing and tacked on 132 yards rushing with another score.
Cade Gant, Lubbock-Cooper, WR, Sr.
Gant was showed how dynamic he could be and because of that, Lubbock-Cooper was able to edge El Paso Del Valle 45-42 in the bi-district round. Gant was something special in the win, hauling in 12 catches for 205 yards with a pair of toucheowns.
Kolson Allen, Farwell, QB, Fr.
Playing in his first career playoff game, Allen proved the moment wasn’t too much for him. The freshman settled in early and led his Farwell Steers to a huge 56-42 win against Sudan by showcasing his dual-threat ability. Allen went 12-of-19 passing for 271 yards and threw four touchodwns, and then ran for 99 yards with two more scores.
Cameron Pohlmeier, Nazareth, RB, Jr.
Nazareth had one of the bigger wins, especially at the Six-man level, defeating Claude 74-65 in the first round. Pohlmeier was the key cog behind the Swifts engine, rushing for 292 yards on 31 carries and was able to find paydirt on six separate occasions.
