Canadian gets by Bushland in overtime
One of the biggest games in the Texas Panhandle on Tuesday night didn’t disappoint, with the Canadian Lady Cats coming away with a thrilling 47-42 win against rival Bushland in overtime during a key District 1-3A game at the Wildcats Gym.
The win puts Canadian (22-9) in a first place tie with Bushland at 7-1 in district play with two games remaining in the regular season. The loss for the Lady Falcons, snaps a 15-game win streak, as Bushland falls to 24-8 overall.
Bushland held a 23-16 halftime lead, and were up 11 after three. The Lady Cats roared back outscoring the Lady Falcons 16-5 in the final frame to force overtime, and were able to keep that momentum in the extra frame.

Kylie Cavalier led the comeback for the Lady Cats, scoring a game-high 22 points. Teammate Averi Adams added seven. Despite the loss, Berklee Billington paced Bushland with 17 points.
Panhandle wraps up District 2-2A title
The Panhandle Ettes were able to claim the District 2-2A championship thanks to getting a hard-fought 34-26 home win against rival Wellington on Tuesday night at the Panthers Gym.
Playing without standout Riley Segura, who is nursing an injury until the playoffs, the Ettes were able to take control in the first half, taking a 23-9 first half lead.
Evan Shadid led Panhandle with 14 points.
Panhandle, which will be the No. 1-seed out of the district in Class 2A Division I, improve to 30-1 overall and a perfect 10-1 in league play. Wellington (23-7) is now 7-3 in district.
TUESDAY’S TOP PERFORMERS
- Frenship earned its 10th straight District 2-6A championship after beating Odessa Permian 61-34 on Tuesday. Addisyn Bollinger and Jada Jackson combined for 38 points against Permian to help claim the title. Bollinger had a game-high 20 with Jackson chipping in 18.
- Frenship Memorial kept on rolling by blasting Big Spring 80-18 on Tuesday. Keyanna Jones-Maynor couldn’t be stopped, pouring in a game-high 32 points.
- Ella Brown kept the Amarillo High Lady Sandies red-hot, dropping in a game-best 22 points that help lift AHS to a huge 68-55 road win against Lubbock Monterey.
- Palo Duro’s Tayleeh Meander and Zeinab Deng combined for 43 points during a 52-22 rout of Lubbock High. Meander tallied 22 points with Deng adding 21.
- Randall’s Hailey Hedrick finished with a double-double during a 54-33 win over rival West Plains. Hedrick ended her night scoring 18 points to go with 12 boards.
- Payton Schilling of Perryton had a game-high 19 points during the Rangerettes 44-28 home victory over Pampa.
- Dalhart’s Kammi Maddox lit up Childress for 25 points in the Lady Wolves 53-37 win Tuesday night.
- Mackrina Herrera of Wheeler dropped in a game-best 22 points which was more than enough during the Lady Mustangs thumping of Quanah 66-44.
- New Home’s Kelby Johnson and Kirby Johnson combined for 44 points during a 70-10 win against Floydada. Kelby had a game-high 23, followed. by Kirbi’s 21.
- Valley had a big 33-31 win against Spur on Tuesday with Hartlee Battey doing her part scoring a team-high 13 points.
