District 4-4A girls basketball roundup – Randall rolls Borger, Canyon soars past Dumas, West Plains wins

Randall bullies Borger 

The Randall Lady Raiders had no problems in their District 4-4A opener by going on the road and handling Borger with a convincing 71-53 victory on Tuesday night.

The Lady Raiders continue a strong start to the season improving to 1-0 in district and 10-5 overall. Borger falls to 8-5 overall and 0-1.

Randall placed three players in double-digits led by captain Sadie Sanchez who poured in a game-high 20 points. Kaylonai Shrubs followed with 18 and Layla Romero tallied 14 points.

West Plains takes down Pampa

It was the start the West Plains Lady Wolves were looking for to open district play.

West Plains built a nine-point halftime lead and never looked back getting a 55-45 victory on Tuesday night.

The Lady Wolves improve their record to 10-4 overall and 1-0 in District 4-4A. Pampa drops to 0-1 in the league and 10-4 overall.

Daneja Agu-White, AJ Norman and Ainsley Hall had equal scoring outings. Agu-White put up a team-high 11 with Norman and Hall scoring 10 each. Pampa’s Katelyn Magers finished with a game-high 13 points.

Canyon dismantles Dumas

The reigning District 4-4A champion Canyon Lady Eagles picked up where they left off last year by dismantling Dumas on the road in a 65-21 lopsided win on Tuesday night.

Canyon shot well from the floor finishing with three players in double-digits. Jaylee Moss paced the Lady Eagles with a big scoring night knocking in 17 points. Sydnee Winfrey was right behind Moss with 13 and Kambrie Graser chipped in with 11.

The Lady Eagles (10-4) move to 1-0 in the league while Dumas (3-11) falls to 0-1.

Hereford knocks off Perryton

Hereford made a long road trip worth it by gaining early momentum thanks to a 42-35 victory against Perryton on Tuesday night.

Hereford had a 12-point lead at half only to see the Rangerettes cut the deficit to four by the end of the third quarter and three points with 3:50 to play. However, the Lady Whitefaces were able to hold off the Perryton rally to pull off the seven-point win.

Mitzel Rodriguez led Hereford with 11 points while Perryton’s Emma Martinez scored a game-high 14.

Hereford is now 1-0 to kickoff District 4-4A and 11-5 overall. Perryton drops to 9-6, 0-1.
