District 4-4A girls basketball roundup – West Plains rolls over Dumas, Canyon and Randall get victories

West Plains stays hot 

The West Plains Lady Wolves kept their winning ways going in district play with a big second half to down Dumas 64-28 at home on Friday night.

The Lady Wolves opened up a 12-point lead at half and were able to push that advantage to 27 by outscoring Dumas 20-5 in the third quarter. Daneja Agu-White led West Plains for a second straight game with 18 points with Piper Patterson chipping in 14. Rylee Schacher had 12 for the Demonettes.

West Plains stays unbeaten at 2-0 in District 4-4A and 11-4 overall. Dumas is now 3-13 and 0-2 in the league.

Randall shakes off slow start to beat Pampa 

It wasn’t the best of starts for Randall but a strong finish that propelled the Lady Raiders past Pampa 61-50 at home in a district clash on Friday night.

Randall keeps pace with West Plains, Canyon and Hereford improving to 2-0 in District 4-4A while moving to 11-5 overall. Pampa falls to 10-5 overall and 0-2 in district.

The Lady Harvesters got out of the gate fast leading 19-11 at the end of the first. Randall regrouped by halftime to take a two-point lead and then took over in the second half outscoring Pampa 30-21 in the final two frames.

Layla Romero and Sadie Sanchez combined for 45 of the Lady Raider 61 points with Romero pouring in a game-high 24. Sanchez followed with 19. Berlin Bartlett was the top scorer for the Lady Harvesters with 18 points.

Canyon takes care of Perryton 

Canyon opened its home district schedule up in a very predictable way taking care of Perryton 67-29 on Friday night.

The victory puts the Lady Eagles took control in the first quarter building a 17-point halftime lead. Kambrie Graser paved the way for Canyon scoring 15 points as teammate Iliana Hernandez put up a great night with 14. Malle Vela tallied 11 for Perryton.

Canyon (11-4) is a perfect 2-0 in District 4-4A while Perryton (9-7) is looking at an 0-2 start to the league.

Hereford holds off Borger 

Hereford had to hold on toward the end, however, were able to fend off a fighting Borger Lady Bulldog squad 38-34 at home during a District 4-4A matchup on Friday night.

The win was key for the Lady Whitefaces (12-5) as they improve to 2-0 in district. Borger is still seeking its first league win falling to 0-2 and 8-6 overall.

Hereford jumped out to an 11-point lead only to see Borger battle back to cut the deficit to four points by halftime. In the second half the Lady Whitefaces were able to keep the Lady Bulldogs at arm’s length to maintain the victory. Kyndal Blair led Hereford with 14 points as teammate Azaelea Alaniz registered 11. Borger’s Adraya Loftis poured in a team-high 13.
