District 4-4A boys basketball roundup – Pampa edges Perryton, Hereford clubs Dumas

Pampa holds off Perryton 

Perryton erased a third quarter deficit to rally past Perryton 63-60 to nab a big District 4-4A victory before the Christmas break on Thursday night in Perryton.

The Harvesters trailed most of the game down 35-31 at half and 49-46 by the end of the third. However, Pampa rallied in the final eight minutes outscoring Perryton 17-11 to come away with the victory.

Julian Alonzo and Jose Alonzo were a key reason for the win. Julian put up a game-high 23 points for Pampa with Jose adding 15. Teammate Bryce Lynn also finished in double-digits with 12. Julian Cervantes went for 13 points to lead the Rangers with Aiden Tarango and Keenan Daughtery scoring 12.

Pampa is now 10-10 overall and 1-1 in district. Perryton falls to 7-5, 1-1.

Canyon bullies Borger

Canyon cruised to a second straight district victory taking down Borger 70-36 on Friday afternoon at the Bulldog Gym.

The Eagles head into the Christmas break at 7-7 overall and 2-0 in District 4-4A. Borger drops to 1-13, 0-2.

Gage Lunsford had a big game for Canyon scoring a game-high 16 points. Teammate Kelson Jones poured in 14 and Trace Wilson ended with 12. KJ Jennings and Tahqulin Brooks led Borger with 12 apiece.

The Canyon Eagles will host their Tatum Tough Tournament on Thursday through Saturday.

Hereford upends Dumas 

Hereford ended the Christmas break on a hot streak winning its second straight 4-4A game.

The Whitefaces went on the road and had no issues taking down Dumas, 65-37, on Thursday night. Hereford moves to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Demons are now 12-5 and 0-2 in District 4-4A.

Juan Bermundez scored a game-high 16 points for Hereford with teammate Ethan Gonzalez tallying 15. Dominic Gardipe poured in a game-high 18 points for Dumas.
