UIL High School Softball Texas Panhandle bi-district playoff pairings

The UIL Texas High School softball playoffs begin with the bi-district round on Tuesday. Here’s a look at where each Texas Panhandle team will be playing. There are some very good first round matchups that include Amarillo High taking on Abilene High, Bushland battles Littlefield, and Gruver is going up against Lockney.

CLASS 5A
Bi-district 

Division I

Amarillo High  (23-9-1) vs. Abilene High (17-9-1), at Lubbock-Cooper Softball Complex 

Game 1: 7 p.m. Thursday 
Game 2: 1 p.m. Friday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

CLASS 4A 
Bi-district

Division I 

Dumas (28-2-1) vs. Midland Greenwood (16-13-1), Plainview Softball Complex

Game 1: 2 p.m. Friday 
Game 2: 1 p.m. Saturday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

West Plains (21-10) vs. Andrews (25-8), at Littlefield Softball Complex

Game 1: 5 p.m. Thursday 
Game 2: 2 p.m. Friday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

Division II

Canyon (20-12) vs. Monahans (16-8-1), at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty Softball Complex 

Game 1: 7 p.m. Thursday
Game 2: 2 p.m. Friday  
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

Randall (24-8) vs. Fort Stockton (22-9), at Seminole Softball  Complex 

Game 1: 6 p.m. Thursday 
Game 2: 2 p.m. Friday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary

Game 1: 6:30 p.m. Friday, Littlefield 
Game 2: Noon, Saturday, Bushland 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

River Road (17-13) vs. Shallowater (20-9), at Floydada Softball Complex

Game 1: 6 p.m. Thursday 
Game 2: Noon, Saturday
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

Division II

Childress (23-2-1) vs. Muleshoe (17-7), at Floydada Softball Complex 

One game: 5 p.m. Friday 

Canadian (22-7) vs. Slaton (16-11-1), at Highland Park Softball Complex 

Game 1: 5 p.m. Friday 
Game 2: 4 p.m. Saturday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

CLASS 2A 
Bi-district

Division I

Game 1: 5 p.m. Thursday at Clarendon 
Game 2: 5 p.m. Friday at West Texas High
Game 3: 30 minutes following game two if necessary 

Gruver (7-5) vs. Lockney (12-15-1), at Palo Duro Softball Complex

Game 1: 3 p.m. Tuesday
Game 2: 30 minutes following Game 2
Game 3: 10 a.m. Saturday, if necessary 

CLASS 1A
Bi-district

Booker vs. Claude, at Pampa Softball Complex 

One game: 4 p.m. 

Kress vs. Follett, at West Texas High Softball Complex

Kale Steed has worked in media since 2002 and has covered sports full-time since 2010, when he joined KVII-TV as a weekend sports reporter and sports anchor. From 2010–2014, he covered high school and collegiate athletics across the Texas Panhandle before transitioning from television to print journalism. In 2014, Steed joined the Amarillo Globe-News as a staff sports reporter.
