The Texas High School volleyball season came to a close Saturday with the playoffs set to start this coming Thursday. Take a look at how the final day of the regular season played out including West Plains win over Canyon, Dumas’ sweep of Pampa and Sanford-Fritch knocking off Vega.

District 4-4A

On the final day of the regular season, it was the West Plains Wolves coming up clutch when they needed to, earning a three-set sweep of rival Canyon, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21, at home Saturday.

With the win, the Lady Wolves (30-11) clinched a share of the District 4-4A title at 12-2 with Randall. West Plains will now head to the playoffs as the No. 1-seed in Division I in Class 4A.

Canyon (21-15) ends the regular season in third place with the loss at 11-3 and will be the No. 2-seed in Division II.

Aaniyah Kitchen was on the attack with 13 kills and added three blocks on the front row for West Plains. Bella Wineberg and Cecilia Murillo combined for 34 assists. Wineberg led the team with 19 and Murillo added 15.

Canyon’s Laney Jones totaled eight kills with seven digs and London Gibson went for 12 assists and nine digs.

Randall was able to fend off quite the effort from Hereford, which was playing for its postseason life, as the Lady Raiders won in five-sets 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

The Lady Raiders (26-14) earn a share of the District 4-4A title with West Plains at 12-2, and will be the No. 1-seed out of Division II in the Class 4A playoffs. Hereford (18-19) was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.

Freshman Chloe Brown had a great game to lead Randall with 39 digs and 21 kills for a double-double. Amber Matthews added to the hit parade with 16 kills and Bennet Moore dished out 41 assists. There were also two Lady Raiders hitting special milestones Saturday. Kambree Gonzalez had a superb outing with 30 digs in the win giving her over 1,000 career digs. Nevaeh Connor totaled seven digs putting Conner at over 500 for her career.

The Dumas Demonettes are playoff bound thanks to getting a sweep of Pampa on Saturday, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.

The Demonettes (21-19, 8-6) were able to capture the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 4-4A and will now be the No. 2-seed out of Division I.

Standout Sophie Clements made sure her team was headed to the postseason. Clements was lights out against Pampa tallying a triple-double with 21 assists, 17 kills and 12 digs.

Weekend quick hits

The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles are the outright District 1-2A champions. The Lady Eagles made that happen by getting a four-set win over Vega, 23-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-17, on Friday in Vega.

The Lady Eagles close out district play a perfect 6-0 and end the regular season at 21-8. Fritch will be the No. 1-seed out of the UIL Class 2A Division I playoffs. Vega (17-21) will be the No. 1-seed out of Division II.

Emma Williams paced the Lady Eagles with 23 kills against the Lady Longhorns. Bryleigh Carr provided the defense with 27 digs.

Lubbock-Cooper and Lubbock Coronado both ended District 3-5A play at 11-5 and had to flip for seeding for spots in the Division II playoffs. Lubbock-Cooper (23-12) won the flip and will be the No. 1-seed in Division II. Coronado (22-17) will be the No. 2-seed.

Bushland and Amarillo High will carry impressive district win streaks into the 2026 volleyball season. The Lady Falcons dismantled Friona on Saturday, 25-3, 25-16, 25-9. The Lady Falcons have now won 105 straight district matches dating back to 2011. Amarillo High swept Lubbock-Cooper on Saturday, 25-12, 25-15, 25-17. The Lady Sandies have now made it 67 straight district wins dating back to 2020.

Littlefield was able to stun Childress in five sets with a 13-25, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 15-8, victory Saturday. The win on top of a Lubbock Talkington loss to Shallowater, earned Littlefield (14-18, 4-6) the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 2-3A.
