15 Years, Regional Finals, and a Family Affair

With coaching stops across Hereford, Levelland, Lubbock Cooper, and Weatherford, Coach Morrison-Burson’s most memorable moment was the Regional Final against Canyon.

The crowd was huge, her family was there, and her dad was more nervous than she was—a special memory that highlights how much family means to her.

When it comes to tough opponents, she believes the biggest challenge is often “ourselves,” but also names Wimberley as a worthy competitor.

Not Superstitious, Secret Singer, and Cherry Limeade Rituals

Coach K isn’t superstitious, but she does have a sweet tooth—candy or a cherry limeade is her pre-game treat, and she loves going to Bears after home games.

Her hidden talent? She used to sing “back in the day,” a fun fact her players might not know! If she weren’t coaching, she’d be in administration or business.

The best advice she’s received: coach true to yourself and treat officials with the respect you’d show them outside the game.

Focused, Knowledgeable, Motivator

Her team would describe her as focused, knowledgeable, and a motivator. Coach Carter is her favorite sports movie, and Twitter/X is her go-to social platform.

Christian music sets the tone in her office, keeping her grounded and inspired.

Coaching Philosophy: Life Lessons and Embracing the Journey

Coach Morrison-Burson believes sports are a lot like life—full of ups, downs, and growth.

Her coaching motto: “Everyone wants to win until they realize how many losses it takes.” She admires how kids in the Texas Panhandle are “built differently,” and how the community always shows up to support them, win or lose.

Goals: State Bound and Community Pride

Her goal for the upcoming season is clear: make it back to state and win it all.

She prefers cherry limeade over coffee or energy drinks, practices for her kids and film study for herself, and leans defensive with her favorite “Dig or Die” drill.

The best part of coaching at Randall? Her family’s involvement and the incredible support from the Randall community, which shows up for every game, through every win and loss.
