District 4-4A

Randall bullies Borger 

Randall carried on its winning ways having no issues at Borger during a District 4-4A contest Saturday with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, sweep.

Sidney Soria had a strong afternoon leading the team with 27 assists and 11 kills for a double-double. Soria also showed off her defensive skill with eight digs. Brooke Henderson added eight digs and Kambree Gonzales finished with six aces.

Randall (23-12 overall) remains tied with West Plains and Canyon for the league lead with an 8-1 mark. Borger (11-19) drops to 1-9 in district.

West Plains, Canyon earn wins 

West Plains and Canyon stayed right in the mix with Randall getting sweeps on Saturday.

The Lady Wolves went on the road to sweep Pampa, 25-11, 25-20, 25-17. Canyon traveled to rival Hereford and won in four-sets, 11-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-22.

West Plains (23-11) and Canyon (21-11) are tied with Randall for first place in District 4-4A at 8-1. Hereford (21-17) falls to 4-5 in district while Pampa (16-16) drops to 2-6.

In the win over the Lady Harvesters, Piper Patterson and Aaniyah Kitchens powered the offense totaling 19 kills. Patterson totaled a game-high 11 with Kitchens adding eight.

During the victory against Hereford, Landri Jay played unbelievable on the back row with 38 digs. Sydnee Winfrey provided the play at the net with 10 kills and three blocks.

Dumas handles Perryton 

Dumas moved into fourth place in District 4-4A following a sweep at Perryton on Saturday with scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-11.

The Demonettes (20-18) push their district record to 5-4 and lead Hereford by a game for the fourth and final playoff spot. Perryton falls to 0-9 in district and 6-24 overall.

Rylee Schacher has been playing great volleyball all season and that continued with 10 kills and 10 for a double-double. Sophia Clements paced the offense with 28 assists and Hannah Hernandez was tremendous on the service line tallying seven aces.

District 3-5A

Amarillo High clinches Class 5A playoff berth 

The proud tradition of Amarillo High carries on as the Lady Sandies once again are headed back to the UIL Class 5A playoffs following a sweep of crosstown foe Caprock on Saturday, 25-10, 25-8, 25-7.

The Lady Sandies (31-6 overall) not only stay a perfect 12-0 but are headed to a very familiar place and that’s the UIL Class 5A playoffs with that win. Caprock (16-16) moves to 4-8 in district.

Ellen Head was strong on offense and defense finishing the match with 11 digs and three aces. Sienna Cavalier led the team with 14 kills and Bennett Rea handed out 20 assists.

In the other 3-5A matches that were played Friday and Saturday, Lubbock Coronado swept Palo Duro (25-8, 25-12, 25-15), Lubbock-Cooper downed Plainview (25-13, 25-21, 25-8) and Lubbock Monterey defeated Lubbock High 25-17, 25-12, 25-23.

District 1-3A/ 2-3A

Bushland makes it 93 straight league wins 

The wins just keep piling up for Bushland as the Lady Falcons soared past Friona during a District 1-3A match Saturday, 25-16, 25-11, 25-8.

The Lady Falcons have now won 93 straight district matches in a row. Bushland (34-4) is also riding a 15-match win streak with its last loss coming on Aug. 30.

The Lady Falcons stay all alone in first place of the league at 4-0. Friona (25-8) is now sitting at 2-2 in district.

Avery Ramos led Bushland with 14 digs and four aces. Senior setter Mackenzie Sims had 16 assists with 11 digs for a double-double and LillyAnn Shannon tallied eight kills. Bella Babbitt and Ambree Hatfield added seven kills each.

Dalhart takes out River Road 

Dalhart moves into second place thanks to a home sweep of River Road on Saturday, 25-9, 25-15, 25-14.

The Lady Wolves saw Emily Gaines provide the pop with 13 kills. Teammate Kammi Maddox was clutch with nine kills and two blocks as Elli Bezner went for 19 assists and six kills.

Despite the loss, River Road’s Heaven Hammett and Hailey Mays each had 10 digs.

Dalhart (22-7-1) moves into second place behind Bushland at 3-1 in district. The Lady Wildcats (20-12) are in fourth place at 1-3 in the league.

In District 2-3A, Childress gets another win this time sweeping Littlefield 25-18, 25-13, 25-25. The Lady Bobcats (22-13) stay in second place at 3-1 in district behind Shallowater.

Tulia fell to Idalou 25-18, 25-15, 25-14.

District 1-2A 

West Texas High survives Sanford-Fritch in five 

In one of the best matches across the Texas Panhandle on Saturday, West Texas High was able to hold off rival Sanford-Fritch for a thrilling five-set win, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Thanks to the late match rally, West Texas High earns its first district win improving to 1-1 and 20-10 overall. Fritch (24-5) suffers its first district loss moving to 1-1.

Zoe Smith did her job on the back row hitting the floor for 31 digs. Gentry Francis and Addi Lindley each had 14 assists with the points coming from Haven Lee, Scout Burris and Mikayla Casey. Lee had a team-high 10 kills with Burris adding eight and Casey getting six.

The Lady Eagles were paced by Zoe Deatherage’s 18 assists and Rhyah Payne’s 15 assists.

Vega cruises by Highland Park 

Vega stayed perfect in the District 1-2A standings with a road win at Highland Park, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15.

Raelyn Calhoun had a monster game with 32 assists and 12 digs for a double-double. Jaz Martinez chipped in with 18 kills and seven digs as DJ DeGraaf added 11 digs with two aces.

Highland Park’s Tessica Deanda finished with a double-double thanks to 10 digs and 10 assists. Deanda also tallied seven kills.

Vega (28-5) is now 2-0 in league play while Highland Park (18-17) falls to 0-2.

TAPPS District 1-2A

San Jacinto and Holy Cross win 

San Jacinto Christian Academy and Holy Cross Catholic Academy both picked up TAPPS District 1-2A victories on Friday.

The Lady Patriots beat Southcrest in four-sets, 25-13, 19-25, 25-22, 25-13. Holy Cross downed Christ the King 25-15, 25-15, 25-4.

SJCA stays one game back of All Saints Episcopal for first place at 9-1 in district while picking up their 30th win on the year moving to 30-4 overall. The Lady Mustangs (18-12) stay in the hunt for a playoff spot improving to 5-5 in the league.

In the win over Southcrest, Lady Patriot Alayna Daniel registered 12 kills with two blocks. Harlie Brabham had 18 assists, Mia Whitney led the back row with 20 digs and Blayne Robison knocked over four aces.

In the Lady Mustangs thumping of CTK, Lisbeth Vasquez went for 17 assists and eight kills. Teammate Madison Valdez followed with 19 assists and seven kills to go with six digs.
