Victor Flores, Gruver, LB, Jr.

Flores was all over the field doing everything he could during Gruver’s huge 33-26 win over Stratford during a district showdown at Greyhounds Stadium on Friday night. The hard-hitting junior finished the game racking up 10 tackles, three of those solo with a sack.

Dylan Ray, Randall, RB, Sr.

Ray provided the pop in more ways than one helping keep Randall undefeated with a 27-17 road victory at Dumas in the district opener on Friday. Ray ran past and over the Demons defense toting the rock 21 times for 147 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

Alex Warren, River Road, QB-DB, Sr.

Warren put the Wildcats on his back to help snap a nasty three-game losing skid. Behind Warren’s tremendous effort on both sides of the ball, the Wildcats were able to hold to get a 35-34 thrilling OT win at Lamesa. Offensively, Warren carried the ball 20 times for 115 yards with a score and threw for 91 yards with two more touchdowns. Defensively, the senior made five tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups.

The Childress offense came alive during a 48-13 district opening win over Friona at home on Friday. The spark was sophomore running back Lucian Davis who is making the most of getting his opportunity. Davis had a career-night chewing up the Chieftains defense for 151 yards on only 14 carries with a touchdown.

Dawson Bennett, Sunray, WR-DB, Sr.

Sunray’s speedy senior was QB Armando Lujan’s favorite target Friday as the Bobcats remain perfect on the year after trouncing Spearman 47-6. Bennett was a mismatch for the Lynx secondary snagging seven catches for 144 yards with two trips to the endzone. Defensively, Bennett was in on four tackles.

Brylyn Lopez, Hereford, RB, Sr.

The hard-nosed Whiteface running back put together a typical outing as the Whitefaces cruised past Pampa 35-14. Lopez, one of the Texas Panhandle’s best backs, torched the Harvester defense for 144 yards on 12 carries with a TD.

Nathan Martens, Muleshoe, QB, Sr.

Julius Atherton, Wheeler, RB, Sr.

There was no stopping Atherton in Wheeler’s district blanking of Quanah 52-0 on Friday. Atherton was a nightmare for the Indian defense doing anything he wanted chewing up 248 yards, on only 16 carries, averaging 15.5 yards a carry, with three touchdowns.
