How it went down 

It was the final night of the regular season for boys’ action across the state before next week’s postseason gets into full swing. Here’s how playoff scenarios played out for Amarill-area teams.

District 3-5A

In a much closer game than the first meeting, Amarillo High held off Palo Duro 53-47 at home to go a perfect 8-0 and clinch the outright District 3-5A championship. The Sandies will be the No. 1-seed out of the district with Palo Duro taking the second spot. Tascosa is the No. 3-seed as Caprock and Plainview each finished 1-7 in the league and will have a play-in game for the fourth and final postseason spot at 6 p.m. Friday in Dimmitt.

District 4-4A

Randall capped off a perfect district record of 14-0 by blasting Pampa 116-60 on Tuesday. The Raiders, who reached the UIL Class 4A state tournament a year ago, will take the No. 1-seed. Canyon will be the two-seed, West Plains is third and Hereford is the No. 4-seed.

District 1-3A

Canadian made it a perfect 10-0 for the District 1-3A season by downing Dalhart on the road 58-39 on Tuesday. The Wildcats will take the No. 1-seed with Bushland as the second-place team. Despite a 54-44 loss to Spearman, River Road is still the No. 3-seed and Dalhart is the fourth and final seed.

District 2-3A

Take away Shallowater, Childress and Idalou, and District 2-3A is a mess. Shallowater is the outright champion at 10-0 and the No. 1-seed. Childress is the No. 2 and Idalou is the No. 3, but here’s where it gets fun. With Slaton beating Lubbock Roosevelt 59-55 on Tuesday and Childress downing Lubbock-Cooper Liberty 58-46, Roosevelt, Liberty and Slaton are all in a three-way tie for the fourth and final spot. Expect a three-way tournament for that fourth spot coming in the next few days.

District 3-3A

Brownfield and Littlefield both won on Tuesday ending the district season with a tie atop the District 3-3A standings at 11-1. The two teams will play for the No. 1-seed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty. Denver City held off Lamesa 49-48 on Tuesday to claim the third-place spot landing Lamesa as the No. 4-seed.

District 1-2A

Gruver handled Booker 67-30 on Tuesday to go 10-0 as the Greyhounds will be the top seed out of District 1-2A. West Texas High will be the No. 2-seed after getting a huge 50-38 victory against Stratford putting the Elks as the No. 3-seed. With the Booker loss, and Sanford-Fritch sinking Sunray 48-32 on Tuesday night, the Eagles and Kiowas will have a play-in game during the Randall Playoff Preview at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

District 2-2A

Wellington and Clarendon both got wins on Tuesday finishing the District 2-2A season at 9-1. The co-district champions decided to flip with Clarendon getting the No. 1-seed and Wellington getting the second spot. Wheeler and Quanah tied for third place and will play a seeding game at 6 p.m. on Friday in Hollis, Okla.

District 3-2A

Farwell ended the District 2-3A campaign 10-0 and is the No. 1-seed. Panhandle and Vega each got wins on Tuesday and tied for second place at 7-3. The two teams flipped, and Vega will be the No. 2-seed with Panhandle taking three. Bovina is the No. 4-seed.

District 1-1A

Miami and Follett won on the final night of the regular season splitting a District 1-1A championship with an 11-1 mark. The two teams will play for the overall No. 1-seed during the Randall Playoff Preview at 6 p.m. on Friday night. Fort Elliott downed McLean 58-18 on Tuesday to take third place as the Tigers take the No. 4 spot.

District 2-1A

Silverton is in at 9-1 and will be the No. 1-seed. Valley is the second-place team with Groom as the No. 3-seed. White Deer beat Claude for the second time in five days on Tuesday night 45-37 in a play-in game to earn the fourth and final postseason spot.

District 3-1A

Texline went 10-0 to take the No. 1-seed. Wildorado claimed the second spot followed by Pringle-Morse as the third-place team and Adrian as the No. 4-seed.

District 4-1A

Nazareth was in at 10-0 and is the No. 1-seed. Springlake-Earth beat Happy on Tuesday 58-53 to claim the No. 2-seed as the Cowboys will be the No. 3-seed. Hart is the fourth-place team out of the league.

Tuesday’s top performers

Amarillo High’s Braden Hausen poured in 14 to help the Sandies get a season sweep of Palo Duro 53-47. It was also a special night for AHS head coach Jason Pillion who was celebrated for going over 400 wins for his illustrious career. Pillion has led the Sandies to 12 district titles in the last 14 years.

Tascosa’s Jaylin Sledge played huge in his final home game scoring 29 points in an 89-54 win over Caprock.

Jaxon Toniolli and Tayesen Combs combined for 48 points to guide Randall to a 116-60 win against Pampa. Toniolli posted a game-high 25 with Combs adding 23.

Kelson Jones tallied 19 points as the Canyon Eagles pummeled Perryton 71-43.

Hereford’s Tyi Duque put up 23 points in a 62-44 win against Borger.

Jesus Jalamo went for 16 points as the Childress Bobcats earned second place in District 2-3A by handling Lubbock-Cooper Liberty 58-46.

Canadian’s Connor Miller was superb in a 58-39 win at Dalhart dropping in a game-high 24 points.

Gruver’s Colt Mathews scored a game-high 20 points during a 67-30 victory against Booker. Despite the loss, Booker’s Hagen Chisum tallied 13 points putting him over 1,000 for his career.

West Texas High’s Cayde Winters came in clutch with 17 points in a 50-38 home win against Stratford.

Dylan Pohlmeier of Panhandle had the hot-hand with a game-high 23 points to lead the Panthers past Boys Ranch 85-38.

Miami’s Haiden Thompson, a recent Northwestern Oklahoma State University football signee, lit up Kelton for 24 points in a Warriors 70-31 victory.
