Aiden Allen, Childress basketball, Sr.

On the court: Allen has picked up where he’s left off for a talented Childress team that made a run to the UIL Class 3A state championship game last March. The versatile guard had a great performance during a 58-47 over District 2-3A rival Idalou last Friday. Allen put together a double-double pouring in a game-high 24 points, cleaning the glass with 10 boards and added three assists.

On the season, Allen is averaging 15.8 points a game with 6.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Coach Wayne Parker: “We have a very experienced team though we lost a great player in Lamont Nickleberry last year. Everyone has been stepping up and finding their roles and Aiden is also doing a great job of that. Aiden is one of five seniors returning for us and he’s become more of a vocal leader on the floor. Aiden is a coach on the floor and he’s more than just a scorer. He’s making the adjustments to be an all-around player and it’s great to see.”

Allen: “I think we’re playing really well overall. Everyone on this team is selfless and willing to do what it takes to do what we need to. I’m still learning into my new role, and I feel I’m doing a better job of sharing the basketball. I just want to be a leader for this team and do whatever it takes to win. This team just wants to get better by th game, and the expectation is to make another deep run.”
