District 4-4A softball roundup: Randall outguns Borger, Dumas downs Canyon

Randall gets past Borger 

Randall rallied back in the late innings to get a District 4-4A opening win over Borger by a 14-9 count at the Lady Raider Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs led the Lady Raiders 3-1 before Randall racked up eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-3 lead. After Borger answered with a 6-run top of the sixth to tie the game, the Lady Raiders put up five more runs in the home half of the inning.

Kaley Wiseman came up clutch with two hits and four RBIs. Teammate Sidney Soria blasted a solo shot to get things started in the fifth and added three RBIs in the win.

Randall moves to 13-8 overall and 1-0 in District 4-4A. Borger falls to 8-11-1, 0-1.

Dumas gets off to hot district start 

Dumas used an 8-run third inning that was more than enough to knock off defending district champion Canyon 11-4 on Tuesday afternoon at the Double Eagle Softball Complex.

The Demonettes (16-3 overall) are off to a 1-0 start to District 4-4A while Canyon (3-13) falls to 0-1.

In total, Dumas was powerful at the plate hitting five home runs as a team.

Star Cortes had a huge afternoon for Dumas going 2-for-4 including a grand slam. Teammate Briana Vargas was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and Melaney Granados was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in.

Pampa blanks West Plains

Pampa didn’t make it a pleasant district debut for West Plains as the Lady Harvesters walked out with an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Kynleigh Kirby was dominant in the circle pitching a complete game with 15 strikeouts while handcuffing West Plains to two hits. Offensively, Cassidy Stanhope did damage going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs. Teammate Carsyn Hunt was also 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI.

Pampa moves to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in District 4-4A. West Plains falls to 9-9-1, 0-1.

Hereford rolls over Perryton 

Hereford put up 18 runs in the first two innings on the way to a 27-2 run-rule victory over Perryton at home on Tuesday.

The Lady Whitefaces improve to 9-8 overall and 1-0 in District 4-4A. Perryton drops to 5-6, 0-1.

Izzy Enriquez blistered Perryton pitching with a 2-for-2 performance that saw two doubles with a game-high five RBIs. Mia Florez added four RBIs on a 2-for-4 day at the dish that included a double and a triple.
