District 3-5A
Amarillo High sweeps rival Tascosa
Amarillo High took over sole possession of first place in District 3-5A by downing arch-rival Tascosa in sweeping fashion, 25-19, 25-20, 25-18, at home on Tuesday night.
The Lady Sandies have now won 23 straight district games while moving to 3-0 in 3-5A and 26-9 overall. Tascosa suffers its first district loss falling to 3-1 in the league and 20-15 overall.
Sienna Cavalier led the offense with 12 kills and three aces followed by teammate Elle Krusa with eight. Joe Moffitt handed out 27 assists with two blocks while her sister Bird and Kaylie Ledbetter each had nine digs.
Meredith Sanning tallied a double-double for the Lady Rebels with 26 assists and 11 digs.
Palo Duro is still in search of its first district win after falling to Plainview in four-sets 25-18, 25-17, 24-26, 25-18.
The Lady Dons drop to 15-15 overall and 0-3 in district. Plainview is now 13-21, 1-2.
District 4-4A
Pampa is red hot
Nobody is playing better volleyball at the moment than the Pampa Lady Harvesters. After closing out the first half of District 4-4A play with wins over Canyon and Dumas, the Lady Harvesters kept that momentum rolling by getting even with West Plains in four-sets, 25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, at home on Tuesday.
West Plains had won the first meeting to open district. The Lady Harvesters (21-11) all of a sudden find themselves at 5-3 in the league and tied with West Plains for third place (26-6, 5-3). Mikalie Floyd, the reigning Press Pass Sports First United Bank Athlete of the Week, is playing at a very high level. Floyd registered a third straight double-double knocking down 25 kills to go with an impressive 30 digs. Teammate Mazi Smith was clutch with 16 kills and six blocks, and Maecia Hawthorne passed around 41 assists, tallying three blocks.
Canyon downs Dumas in five-sets
Canyon kept its playoff hopes alive in a major way coming back from an 0-2 deficit to down Dumas, 17-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 15-11.
Canyon needed this win for its playoff hopes as the Lady Eagles move to 3-5 in District 4-4A and 8-27 overall. Dumas drops its second straight five-set match falling to 3-5 in the league and 21-16 overall.
Rylee Johnson and Sydnee Winfrey were massive offensively at the net for Canyon. Johnson powered home a game-high 16 kills to Winfrey’s 13. Brooklyn Kinsey is settling into her setter role dishing out 17 assists, and Landry Jay added 27 digs.
Hallie Coon had 18 assists and 10 kills to finish with a double-double for Dumas.
Randall and Hereford roll
The Randall Lady Raiders opened the second half of District 4-4A play with a dominating win at Borger, 25-21, 25-13, 25-12, on Tuesday.
Brooke Henderson had a great stat line with 11 kills, four aces and four digs. Jordyn Gove had a great effort registering 20 assists, 11 digs for a double-double, and adding eight kills with three aces. Tatum Brandt also had a double-double with 20 assists and 12 digs. Randall is a perfect 8-0 in district and 27-8 overall. Borger is 15-15, 1-7.
Hereford stayed a game back of Randall getting a sweep of Perryton 25-9, 25-8, 25-7.
The Lady Whitefaces are 7-1 in district and 28-7 overall. Perryton struggles continue at 11-18, 0-8.
London Baker had a game-high 30 assists for Hereford. Nickilah Whatley and Camryn Blair each had 11 kills.
District 1-3A
Bushland cruises
The No. 1-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons became the first team to 30 wins in the Texas Panhandle by dismantling Dimmitt 25-2, 25-7, 25-3, on Tuesday.
Bushland pushes its incredible district win streak to 76 straight games dating back to 2011. The Lady Falcons are now 30-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in District 1-3A.
Logan Culpepper and Kenzie Sims combined for 23 assists, as Culpepper added six aces. Madyson Eberly had a game-high seven aces.
Friona wins
Friona stayed a game back beating River Road 25-21, 25-17, 25-22 on Tuesday.
Aubree Bunker knocked down eight kills for the Squaws and Ivory Shelby and Reyna Arias each had four aces. River Road was led by Braislyn Bertrand and Rylee Kunkel’s 10 kills.
Friona is 3-1 in district and 16-11 overall. River Road falls to 12-14, 1-2.
District 1-2A
Highland Park takes district lead
In a showdown for the outright District 1-2A lead, it was the Highland Park Lady Hornets showing their dominance getting a sweep of West Texas High on the road, 25-15, 25-7, 25-12.
The No. 15-ranked Lady Hornets are all alone at the top of the district standings at 4-0 and 26-7 overall. WT High suffers its first district loss falling to 3-1, and 12-14 overall.
Kyra Courtemanche knocked down 15 kills and added three aces to lead Highland Park. Mercedes Harton tallied a double-double with 26 assists and 13 digs.
Sanford-Fritch swept Memphis in the other district matchup on Tuesday with scores of 25-10, 25-19, 25-19. The Lady Eagles improve to 2-2 in District 1-2A and 13-14 overall. Memphis is 8-15, 0-4.
