District 3-5A roundup

The Amarillo High Lady Sandies took over sole possession of first place in District 3-5A by blanking Bell Street rival Randall 2-0 at Happy State Bank Stadium on Friday night.

The Lady Sandies defense clamped down on the Lady Raiders, and added stellar goal play. Kloie Mills made four first half saves in net, as Sydney Williams made five stops in the second half.

After a scoreless first half, AHS got on the board in the opening minute of the second half on a Lily Sobey goal off an assist from Mollie Ferro and Nicole Gray. Not five minutes later, the Lady Sandies picked up much needed insurance on a Gray goal at the 46 minute mark.

AHS runs its record to 13-2-2 overall, and a perfect 3-0-0 in district. Randall is now 11-3-1, 3-1-0.

Palo Duro earned its first district win beating Caprock 3-2. The Lady Dons move to 4-7-1, 1-2-0. Caprock is now 6-10-2, 0-2-1.

In boys action, Caprock and Palo Duro continued its great city rivalry at Dick Bivins Stadium with the Dons coming away with a 3-1 win.

Palo Duro keeps a firm grip on first place in District 3-5A improving to 15-1-2 overall, and a perfect 3-0-0 in league action. Caprock drops its first district contest, falling to 2-1-0 in the league and 8-4-3 overall.

Palo Duro standout Jaime Carrillo netted a hat trick to carry on his outstanding year. Teammate Adrian Ruiz dished out all three assists.

Amarillo High also got a win by doubling up rival Randall 4-2. Carter Neely scored a pair of goals for the Sandies, and Sam Newman stacked up three assists. AHS runs its record to 11-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the league. The Raiders are now 5-9-2, 0-3-1.

District 4-4A

Canyon soared to another win getting a 2-0 shutout of Borger on Friday night.

The Lady Eagles were led by Kadence Penner and Gracie Van Winkle, who each tallied goals. Canyon stays in first place in District 2-4A moving to 3-0-0, and 8-8-1 overall.

On the boys side, Pampa stayed hot earning a 2-1 victory over Dumas. Justin Martinez and Martin Rios each had goals for the Harvesters as they improve to 12-2-1, and 3-0-0. Dumas drops to 3-9-0, 1-2-0.

Borger also took a 2-1 against Canyon to stay a game back of Pampa. Abde Lozano found the back of the net in the first half for the Bulldogs.

Francisco Nava then made a penalty kick at the 78 minute mark to lift the Bulldogs. Borger is now 5-7-1, 2-1-0. Canyon falls to 3-12-1, 0-3
