Randall erased an early deficit to knock off El Paso Chapin, 20-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-23, in the Class 5A area round Monday night in Seminole.

Senior Kiar Parker used her big swing to hammer down 17 kills, adding two aces in the victory. Merritt Snell did a solid job of setting up hitters with 17 assists. Teammate Maretta Ramirez had a great game adding 13 assists, eight digs and four aces.

Randall (14-3) moves on to face the Abilene Cooper Clint Horizon winner in the regional semifinals.

Randall def. El Paso Chapin 20-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-23

Randall— Kills: Kiar Parker 17, Desiree Sotelo 8; Blocks: Delanie Patterson 3, Sotelo 1; Digs: Taylor Irving 20, Maretta Ramirez 8; Assists: Merritt Snell 17, Ramirez 13; Aces: Ramirez 4, Lauren De Santiago 3.

Records: Randall 14-3; EP Chapin 17-2.

AHS stays hot

Amarillo High struggled a bit in the early going but found its rhythm for a, 19-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-16, win against El Paso El Dorado in the Class 5A area round Monday in Denver City.

AHS (18-4) extends its impressive win streak to 18 straight, and will play El Paso High (11-5) in the regional semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Midland Christian. El Paso High stunned 4-5A District champion Lubbock Cooper in five-sets Monday night.

Currie Murasak had her second straight terrific performance with 22 kills. That gives the junior 44 kills in two playoff games. Ashlyn Vinyard added 13 kills, and Maddie Kellogg had 18 digs.

Amarillo High def. El Paso El Dorado 19-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-16

AHS— Kills: Currie Marusak 22, Ashlyn Vinyard 13; Blocks: Symone Quiles 6; Digs: Maddie Kellogg 18; Aces: Joe Moffitt 3.

Records: Amarillo High 18-4.
