Williams took control in the second half of the Demons biggest win to date in a thrilling 38-35 victory against Decatur. The junior was 11 of 20 for 181 yards with a score, but was damaging on the ground with 123 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns.
Ah Lee Yart, Dumas, Jr. K
With ice water in his veins, Yart lined up and drilled a 35-yard field goal as time expired to lift Dumas past Decatur, to a 13-0 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals. Yart’s exceptional season also continued on extra-points, going a perfect 5 for 5. On the year, Yart is 57 of 58 on extra-points in 13 games.
Canadian’s defense
Yes, this is unusual but it goes to the entire unit. Before coach Chris Koetting emptied his bench, the Wildcats defense held the Loboes to 100 yards of offense, two first downs and forced two fumbles in a dominating 55-28 win that wasn’t as close as the score indicated.
Grant McCook, Canadian, Sr. QB
The gunslinger led a fast-paced charge, motoring Canadian up and down the field for 28 points in the games first 13 minutes to help the Wildcats back to the state quarterfinals for a sixth straight year. McCook was 8 of 13 for 213 yards and two scores, and ran for 55 yards with three more TDs.

Joseph Plunk, Tascosa, Sr. QB
The speedy quarterback is having one of the best seasons in Texas Panhandle. Plunk turned it up to another level Saturday, burning up 257 yards on the ground with six touchdowns. In three playoff wins, Plunk has 615 yards with 13 touchdowns. On the year, he’s racked up 2,502 yards and 38 TDs.
Ben Crockett, McLean, Sr. RB
The mystique of one of the best Six-man players in the Texas Panhandle continues to grow. Crockett was flat out unstoppable leading the Tigers to another rout of White Deer 59-12 in the state quarterfinals. The reigning Class 1A Player of the year piled up 245 yards with five touchdowns, threw for a score and had a pick-six.
Marc Ramirez, Wellington, So. RB-LB
The Skyrockets dominated on the ground with 363 yards, and Ramirez was the leader that made it go. The bruising sophomore carried it 13 times for 117 yards, averaging nine yards a carry for three touchdowns. Ramirez also made five tackles on defense.
Britt McQuitty, Stratford, Sr. FB
No one was going to stop McQuitty on Friday afternoon. The punishing fullback ran right at Gruver for 173 yards on 23 carries with a pair of touchdowns during a 25-6 win.
Walker McBryde, Stratford, Sr. QB-DB
Though it wasn’t his most prolific day through the air, McBryde showed off his talent on the defensive side of the football. In a clutch win against Gruver, McBryde came up with two timely interceptions that kept Gruver out of Elks territory. He added three tackles as well.
Hesston Marshall, Wheeler, Jr. RB
Despite a season-ending loss at the hands of Hamlin, Marshall gained 109 yards, topping one of the best seasons around the Texas Panhandle in some time. The explosive junior ended his year rushing for 2,532 yards with 30 touchdowns in 13 games for the Mustangs.
