H.S. Volleyball playoff roundup: Hereford cruises; Tascosa wins thriller, Wildorado makes history

Hereford opened what it hopes is a long playoff run with a dominant sweep of Dalhart (25-10, 25-16, 25-7) in a Class 4A bidistrict round matchup Tuesday night in Bushland.

The powerful Lady Whitefaces were simply to much for the Lady Wolves in every phase, as Dalhart ends its season at 9-29.

Hereford standout hitter Darcy Dodd was the story. The strong swinging senior ended the night with a double-double, racking up 14 kills with 11 digs. Teammate Bonnie Vallejo was also key with eight digs and four aces.

Hereford (30-14) moves on to the area round to play Andrews (14-13) at a time and place to be determined.

Hereford def. Dalhart 25-10, 25-16, 25-7.

Records: Hereford 30-14; Dalhart 9-29.

Pampa advances past Levelland

The Pampa Lady Harvesters didn’t have any issue in their Class 4A bidistrict opener, getting a sweep of Levelland (25-20, 25-19, 25-15) on Tuesday night in Tulia.

Pampa is now 26-12 overall, advancing to face Seminole in the area round at 5 p.m. Thursday in Friona.

Hallie Sieck had a double-double effort for the Lady Harvesters, hustling for 14 digs and dishing out 32 assists.

Celeste Ostercamp had a team-high 23 digs, as Georgie Osborne knocked down 15 kills.

Pampa def. Levelland 25-20, 25-19, 25-15.

Records: Pampa 26-12; Levelland 23-16

Tascosa moves on in thrilling fashion

Just like the district season, the flair for the dramatics continued for Tascosa in its Class 6A bidistrict opener.

The Lady Rebels went back and forth with El Paso Frankin in Andrews, escaping with a, 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13 victory.

Taryn Galt delivered the game-winning kill to clinch the match, beating the Franklin defenders down the line. Galt was spectacular in the win, putting down a team-high 25 kills. Setter Aaliyah Hardy was sensational totaling 62 assists and 18 digs.

Tascosa, which was a four-seed out of District 2-6A, improves to 24-16. The Lady Rebels advance to face Euless Trinity (19-18) in the area round at 6 p.m. Friday in Vernon.

El Paso Franklin, the District 1-6A champion, ends its season at 31-12.

Tascosa def. El Paso Franklin 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13.

Records: Tascosa 24-16; Franklin 31-12.

Class 5A

AHS continues bidistrict dominance

It’s become automatic that when Amarillo High is in a bidistirct match, it’s going to be one for the W column.

The Lady Sandies held true to form with that tradition on Tuesday night in Childress, taking down Wichita Falls Rider in a Class 5A bidistirct game, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20.

AHS keeps its unheard of streak of wins going in the first round playoff games, having never lost a bidistrict match since the program started in 1978

The Lady Sandies move to 30-13 overall on the year, and will now square off with El Paso El Dorado in the area round at a time and place to be determined.

Corrin Davis and Currie Marusak each had 10 kills against Rider, which ended its season at 23-17.

Setter Hannah Shipman dished out 36 assists and tallied three blocks in the victory.

Amarillo High def W.F. Rider 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20.

Records: Amarillo High 30-13; Wichita Falls Rider 23-17.

Randall rolls over Abilene Cooper

The No. 3-ranked Randall Lady Raiders picked up where they left off in district by downing Abilene Cooper in four games in a Class 5A bidistrict match at Lubbock Monterey.

After a slow start where Randall dropped the first set, 19-25, the Lady Raiders picked up the pace winning the next three, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19.

Randall (38-3 overall) is headed to the area round to play El Paso Eastlake (22-12) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Frenship.:

Randall senior Brianna Ford’s presence was felt. Ford hammered down 16 kills, to go with three blocks and three aces.

Peyton Irwin added 18 digs.

Abilene Cooper ends its year at 19-23.

Randall def. Abilene Cooper 19-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19.

Records: Randall 38-3; Cooper 19-23.

Wildorado makes school history

It was a historic night for the Wildorado Lady Mustangs. Playing in the school’s first ever playoff game, Wildorado came away with the program’s first ever postseason win, sweeping Loop (25-20, 25-17, 25-8) in a Class 1A bidistrict match Tuesday in Lubbock.

The Lady Mustangs improve to 16-15 overall and will now face Sierra Blanca in the area round at a time and place to be determined.

Chloe Aduddell led the way for Wildorado with a team-high nine kills to go with five aces. Teammate Jessica Merrell had an eye-opening 11 aces, followed by Milana Evans with 10.

Wildorado def. Loop 25-20, 25-17, 25-8.

Record: Wildorado 16-15.
