It was a quick night of work for West Texas High in its District 1-2A Division I opener taking a 54-14 win against Highland Park on Friday night at Comanches Stadium.
The Comanches were firing on all cylinders right off the bat scoring 34 points in the opening 12 minutes.
Quarterback Avian Cruz continues his huge season for WT High. The dual-threat quarterback was a mismatch for the Hornets totaling 276 yards of offense. Cruz ran for 164 yards, and threw for 112 yards with two passing touchdowns.
WT High improves to 4-2 and 1-0 in district.
Highland Park falls to 2-4, 0-1.

Panhandle blasts Boys Ranch
The Panhandle Panthers came off of their bye week in a dominating fashion, routing Boys Ranch 52-6 to open District 1-2A Division I action.
The Panhandle offense remains versatile, seeing six different players find the endzone.
Of the six Panthers finding the endzone, freshman receiver Landyn Hack led the ground game, chewing up 83 yards on five carries with a pair of touchdowns.
Quarterback Wesley Jones was a perfect 8 of 8 passing for 142 yards including a toucdown.
Boys Ranch has yet to find the win column, falling to 0-7 and 0-1 in district.
The Panthers improve to 6-1, 1-0.

Fritch nabs first win of the year
Matthew Black scored on a 13-yard scamper in the closing minutes to lift Sanford-Fritch past Sunray 18-10 on Friday night at Eagles Stadium.
Sunray had taken the lead in the latter stages of the fourth quarter on a Jorge Hermosillo 14-yard touchdown pass from Tate DeBord.
In a battle of two teams seeking its first win on the year, Sanford-Fritch is now 1-5 overall but is 1-0 in District 1-2A Division I.
The Bobcats fall to 0-6, 0-1.
Fritch quarterback Kobee Cunningham was 6 of 12 for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Hermosillo snagged four catches for 58 yards and a TD to lead Sunray.

Stratford opens district strong
Stratford stayed red hot with a convincing 60-15 district opening victory at Clarendon on Friday night.
The No. 4 Elks move to 1-0 in District 3-2A Division II and 6-1 overall.
Iuden Romero did it all against the Broncos. The split back rushed for 111 yards on seven carries with three touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, Romero garnered two interceptions and made a fumble recovery.

Vega beats up Booker in district opener
The Longhorns jumped ahead quickly Friday night in Booker.
Vega capitalized on big first had effort to secure its first district win of the season beating the Kiowas 52-6.
As solid as Vega’s offense was, the defense was just as impressive holding the Booker offense to 129 yards while forcing two turnovers.
Senior dual-threat quarterback Carson Kirkland completed 7 of 8 passes for 93 yards, and ran for 148 yards on six carries combining for three scores.

Skyrockets stomp Quanah
It was as expected for the Wellington Skyrockets, throttling Quanah 50-6 in the District 5-2A Division II opener Friday night at Powell Field in Wellington.
The No. 6 Skyrockets keep on winning with a 5-1 record overall and 1-0 in district play.
Jaden Combs had 96 yards on the ground with two touchdowns while Mason Folk added 67 yards and a score.
Skyrocket quarterback Creighton Killian was 7 of 8 passing for 106 yards and a touchdown.
The Wellington defense limited the Indians to 138 yards lf offense.
Wheeler mangles Munday
Wheeler put up a plethora of points in a 74-6 rout of the Munday Moguls on Friday night.
The No. 9 Mustangs have won four straight, moving to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in District 5-2A Division II.
