The Eagles signal caller continues to get stronger with each start. Defoor had another superb effort during Canyon’s 62-0 shutout against Big Spring, throwing for 179 yards and three touchdowns on 9 of 12 passing.
Will Maynard, Amarillo High, Jr. QB
The Sandies earned a big 48-30 victory over Lubbock Monterwy to open district play, and Maynard was a big reason why. The junior totaled 491 yards with seven combined touchdowns. Maynard threw for 359 yards with four passing TDs and ran for 131 yards with three running scores.
Anthony Randle, Palo Duro, Sr. RB
Randle did his best to get the Dons in the district win column with a 26-17 victory over Lubbock High on Friday. Randle carried the ball 20 times for 140 yards.
Cade Cox, Dumas, Jr. LB
Dumas didn’t get to play a full game Friday, but it didn’t stop its defense from another dominating performance against Borger. In only two quarters, Cox made seven tackles, two of which were for a loss.

Brit McQuitty, Stratford, Sr. RB
Out of all the explosive weapons Stratford has, McQuitty, maybe the most unheralded of the group. The hard-nosed running back chewed up Perryton with 116 rushing yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.
Tucker Bridwell, Pampa, Sr. QB
Bridwell tacked on to his Texas Panhandle area passing lead, dissecting Dalhart in a 43-9 win. Bridwell was 30 of 42 for 438 yards and five touchdowns. On the year, Bridwell’s thrown for 1,873 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Gustavo Andrade and Hesston Marshall, Wheeler, Jr. QB and RB
It’s hard to leave off Andrade or Marshall after Wheeler’s thrilling 37-30 win against Gruver. Andrade ran for three touchdowns on 132 yards rushing, and threw for another score. The speedy Marshall torched the Greyhounds for 181 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown.
Carson Kirkland, Vega, Sr. QB
Is there anything the dual-threat quarterback can’t do. Kirkland only had four carries but scored every time he touched the ball. Kirkland scored on runs of 66, 55, 41 and 36 yards. He finished the game with 194 yards.
Ben Crockett, McLean, Sr. RB
The reigning Class 1A Division I MVP backed that accolade up Friday night during a 54-6 at Happy. Crockett hit the Cowboys in the mouth any he could, rushing for 200 yards and five touchdowns.
Sylvester Ballard, Clarendon, Fr. RB
Ballard had a career game, especially for a freshman when the Broncos rolled over Plains 56-0. Ballard only had four carries but took advantage of every one of them, going for 124 yards rushing with three touchdowns.
