Tascosa secures second place on Senior Night
It was a quick night of work for Tascosa on Friday night as the Lady Rebels dismantled Palo Duro at home on Senior Night in a three-set sweep, 25-10 ,25-12, 25-7.
With the win, Tascosa (31-9 overall) clinches outright second place out of District 3-5A moving to 13-2. Palo Duro falls to 10-24 overall.
The Lady Rebels saw Bennet Berryman lead the backrow with 16 digs and serve up five aces. Libby Miller went for 19 assists and the offense was provided by Bentleigh Bundy’s 12 kills.
Caprock upends PlainviewÂ
Behind a strong team effort, the Caprock Lady Longhorns defended home court beating Plainview on Saturday, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 25-17.
Marlene Ramirez did it all for Caprock handing out 34 assists, registering 13 digs for a double-double with four kills. Teammate Grace Morales had 18 digs with four kills and four assists.
Caprock is now 18-18 overall and finishes district at 6-10.
In other district matchups, Lubbock-Cooper beat Lubbock Monterey 25-21, 25-17, 25-19. The Lady Pirates (28-12) will take the third spot in district currently sitting at 12-3.
Lubbock Coronado swept Lubbock High 20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19. The Lady Mustangs (23-17) are now 10-5 in the league and have secured the final playoff spot.
District 4-4A
West Plains survives Dumas
West Plains was pushed to the limit by Dumas as the Demonettes gave the Lady Wolves everything they had, however, West Plains was able to leave Dumas with a thrilling five-set, 25-15, 25-19, 21-25, 20-25, 17-15.
The Lady Wolves held a 2-0 lead only to see Dumas rally back to tie the match forcing a fifth set. West Plains was able to secure the final two points for the win.
West Plains (26-11) clinches a share of the District 4-4A title with the victory moving to 12-1 in District 4-4A. Dumas (21-21) falls a game behind Hereford for fourth place at 6-7 in district.
Cecilia Murillo quarterbacked the offense with 23 assists and was clutch on the back row with 21 digs for a double-double. Aaniyah Kitchen powered down 12 kills with four blocks and Piper Patterson totaled 12 kills.
Dumas’ Rylee Schacher had a tremendous effort trying to pull the upset. Schacher finished the game with an impressive triple-double going for 17 kills, 13 digs and was unreal at the net with 12 blocks. Teammate Sophie Clements did a great job running the offense with 42 assists and Hannah Hernandez tallied 30 digs.
Randall and Canyon winÂ
Randall and Canyon stayed tied for second place one game behind West Plains for first place in District 4-4A with one game in the regular season to go.
The Lady Raiders swept Pampa 25-8, 25-23, 25-19, while the Lady Eagles soared past Borger, 25-18, 25-15, 25-12.
Randall (26-13 overall) and Canyon (24-12) are both 11-2 with one regular season game to go.
In the win over the Lady Harvesters, Brooke Henderson knocked down 12 kills to go with 10 digs for a double-double. Teammate Sidney Soria dished out 38 assists with eight digs.
During Canyon’s sweep of Borger, Brooklyn Kinsey paced the offense with 10 kills. Landri Jay supplied the defense with 14 digs.
Hereford hustles past PerrytonÂ
Hereford was able to keep pace with Dumas for the final playoff spot out District 4-4A sweeping Perryton 25-8, 25-15, 25-18, on Saturday.
The Lady Whitefaces (24-18) are a game ahead of Dumas for fourth place at 7-6.
Like she does almost every outing, London Baker paced Hereford with a double-double leading the offense with 12 assists and 11 kills.
District 1-3A
Bushland breezes by River RoadÂ
Bushland took care of River Road on Saturday soaring to a three-set, 25-11, 25-10, 25-16.
The Lady Falcons continue the momentum of a 13-year district win streak running that streak to an unbelievable 96 straight victories. Bushland is now 7-0 in 1-3A and 38-4 overall. River Road (22-13) goes to 3-4 in district.
Ambree Hatfield paced Bushland with 10 kills. Ansley Tiffin-Fernandez had 17 assists and Brueklyn Koenig had eight kills.
In the other district match, Friona swept Dimmitt 25-10, 25-11, 25-4.
District 1-2A
Vega wins first district championship
In only the fourth year, the Vega Lady Longhorns can call themselves district champions for the first time in program history.
Vega claimed the outright title by earning a home sweep of Highland Park on Saturday, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20.
The duo of Jaz Martinez and Raelyn Calhoun were key to the game and the district championship for Vega. Martinez finished with another double-double going for 16 kills and 15 digs. Calhoun mastered the offense with 31 assists with seven digs and added five aces.
The Lady Longhorns stay perfect in district at 5-0 and are now an impressive 31-5 overall. The Lady Hornets fall to 19-9 overall and 1-4 in league action.
Sanford-Fritch sweeps West Texas High
Sanford-Fritch clinches second place out of District 1-2A beating rival West Texas High in a three-set sweep, 25-13, 25-15, 25-16, on Saturday afternoon.
Ryah Payne was all over the court knocking down 11 kills with six blocks. Saydee Williams chipped in with eight kills.
The Lady Eagles (26-6) secure the second spot with a 3-2 mark in district. The Lady Comanches slip to 20-13 overall and 1-4 in district play.
District 1-1A
Wildorado upends Fort Elliott, Kelton beats Shamrock
District 1-1A continues to be the most unpredictable league in the Texas Panhandle and Saturday wasn’t any different.
Coming off a loss to Miami on Tuesday, Wildorado secured second place and a playoff spot by knocking off district champion Fort Elliott in five-sets, 20-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16, 15-10.
The Lady Mustangs (9-14 overall) punch a ticket to the playoffs improving to 6-3 in district play. The Lady Cougars, which already secured the 1-1A championship, drops their first district game falling to 16-7 overall and 8-1 in district.
The race for the third and final playoff spot is a mess. Kelton downed Shamrock on Saturday in four-sets, 25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19.
The Lady Lions (11-7) are in third place at 5-4 in district. Shamrock (15-13) and Miami are both fighting with Kelton for the final playoff spot at 4-5 in the league with one regular season game remaining.
Miami (13-16) was able to stay alive thanks to sweeping Darrouzett, 25-9, 25-6, 25-4.
