Mya Bartlett, West Plains soccer Sr.

On the pitch: Following two years of battling knee injuries, Bartlett is making the most of her senior season and then some. Finally healthy and showing her potential, the senior leader had quite the week leading the Lady Wolves to shutout wins against Dumas 9-0, and Canyon 7-0. Against the Demonettes, Bartlett tallied two goals with three assists. In the victory against the Lady Eagles, Bartlett was dominant scoring an eye-popping six goals with an assist. Thanks to that effort against Canyon, Bartlett is now at 42 goals on the year setting the school-record for goals in a season with 42. She has also dished out 12 assists on the season.

Coach Amberlee Gerald: “Having Mya healthy and playing at the level she’s playing at shows her resilience. She makes a huge difference on this team and it’s so exciting to watch her game in and game out make such an impact. When we started this program, we knew she was going to be special. Watching her get to enjoy this year and set the new record for goals in a season makes me so proud for her. It’s awesome to see because I know that’s been a goal of hers.”

Bartlett: “We are having an amazing season so far and we hope to continue that into the playoffs. This team has such a close bond, and we all love playing for one another. Being out with those injuries for two years was hard, but I’m getting my skills back and each game I’m growing and getting back to the player I knew I could be. Getting the school-record for goals was also a very amazing experience. It was awesome to have my team celebrate with me and achieve something special.”
