London Baker, Hereford volleyball, Sr.

On the court: Baker has picked up where she left off last year by doing whatever is asked of her. Playing all over the court, the senior helped Hereford to a pair of wins last week against Pampa and Borger.

During those victories, Baker put together two double-double performances. Against the Lady Harvester, the versatile Baker went for 12 assists and 11 kills. In the win over Borger, Baker just missed a triple-double knocking down 13 kills with 12 assists and nine digs.

On the season, Baker has amassed 278 kills with 256 assists and 134 digs.

Coach Emma Russell: “I feel good about how we’re coming along and playing right now. We had to work through some kinks during non-district, but the seniors are buying in and reaching toward their goals. I like the chemistry we have, and the bond is getting stronger with each game. London is a reason for that. She’s the type of player any coach would want on their team. London is a well-rounded player that excels wherever you put her on the floor. She is just a good a person off the court and does such a great job motivating others as a leader.”

Baker: “I feel we’re progressing as a team with each game we play. The chemistry is building, and coach Russell brings a positive vibe. I feel I’ve grown more as a leader than anywhere else. The team looks at me in tough situations, so I’m always doing my best to be there for them and help get us better.”
