Ansley Parr, Chidress softball, Jr.

On the diamond: Childress capped off a big week with a 3-1 win over Bushland followed by an 11-1 run-rule victory against River Road to take over control of the early District 1-3A lead. Parr was masterful in the circle during both of those wins, limiting both the Lady Falcons and Lady Wildcats at the plate. In the Bushland win, Parr worked all seven innings, scattering six hits without allowing a run while racking up 14 strikeouts. Against River Road, the strategic righty threw five innings of no-hit softball with another 13 K’s.

So far this season, Parr is 12-1 in the circle with a microscopic 0.36 ERA in 77.1 innings pitched to go with 190 strikeouts. On the offensive side, the junior is hitting .614 with three home runs on top of 12 doubles.

Coach Charsli Bozeman: “Ansley is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever been around. She does so many things on her own time and puts forth that extra work that no one sees. That’s the work it takes for an athlete when they want to level up and she’s that kind of person. Ansley has a great attitude and is a great teammate. She and her team all trust one another and that’s been so great to watch. I love watching her mental approach heading into a game. We work on the zone all the time. We work on the hitters we’re going to face and the situations. She has really improved on her off speed and she throws a great change up. She has learned to command the zone and keep the ball down.”

Parr: “I think offensively we are on point and we are putting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defenses. I also think our defense has been very good and they do a great job of having my back when we’re in the circle. We have a very strong team bond and I really love playing with this group of girls. In the circle, I think I’ve gotten better on my command and my speed. I am hitting my spots and I’m in control of my pitches. We just want to keep getting better and see how far we can go.”
