Lady Buff volleyball win a pair in Nebraska

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs hit the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Kearney, Neb., taking part in the Rosella Meier UNK Fall Classic.

WT picked up straight-set wins on Friday against Chadron State and Southern Nazarene before falling to perennial power and host No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney in three to close out the weekend.

Torrey Miller finished with 32 kills on the weekend while Hereford product Chandler Vogel registered 48 digs in the back row.

The Lady Buffs (6-1 overall) open Lone Star Conference play with a road trip to No. 23 UT Tyler on Friday, and Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.

Buffs soccer stays hot

The No 11-ranked Buffs remained unbeaten taking down No. 25-ranked Northeastern State 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at The Pitch.

The two teams headed into halftime tied, 1-1. WT exploded for four goals in the final 45 minutes with Fort Worth product Giancarlo Saldana scoring a pair of goals in the victory. WT (2-0 overall) hits the road to take on Southern Nazarene on Thursday night before hosting Northwest Nazarene on Saturday in Canyon.

Lady Buffs soccer cruises

The Lady Buffs picked up a pair of dominant victories this past week to open their 2021 home schedule.

WT (3-1) handed Oklahoma Baptist a 3-0 defeat on Thursday night as Hannah Kelley-Lusk moved into third on the school’s all-time scoring list. Saturday saw seven different Lady Buffs find the back of the net in a 9-0 rout of Adams State. WT hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at The Pitch on campus.

Buffs and Lady Buffs golf set to open fall campaign

The West Texas A&M men and women’s golf teams open their 2021-22 fall golf schedule on Monday and Tuesday.

The Buffs head to Lakewood, Colo., taking part in The Writz at Mile High being played at Bear Creek Golf Club (Par 72, 6,966 Yards).

Monday will see 36-holes as WT will be paired with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference members Colorado State-Pueblo and Fort Lewis with the round beginning at 9:50 a.m. The event will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of competition.

The Lady Buffs and head coach Meredith James start their fall schedule on September 20-21 as they travel to Denton to take part in the DBU Women’s Classic hosted by defending National Champion Dallas Baptist at Robson Ranch Golf Club.

WT Cross Country preps for Missouri

Following a pair of impressive victories at the Texas Tech Open on Sept. 4 the Buffs and Lady Buffs make the long drive to Joplin, Missouri to compete in the Missouri Southern Stampede this Saturday. Head coach Jake Krolick takes a loaded group in both the men’s and women’s races that should impress at one of the biggest events in the nation.
