Amarillo-area girls district basketball scores for January 7th

San Jacinto Christian stays hot downing rival Holy Cross 

San Jacinto Christian Academy continues to show why they are one of the top teams in all of TAPPS Class 2A by staying perfect in district getting a lopsided home win against rival Holy Cross Catholic Academy 72-30 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Patriots their 20th win on the year improving to 20-6 overall and more importantly 3-0 in District 1-2A. Holy Cross falls to 7-9 overall and 1-2.

SJCA used balanced scoring with five players scoring in double figures against the Lady Mustangs. Senior standout Harlie Brabham paced the Lady Patriots posting a game-high 16 points. Teammate Mikee McReynolds followed with 14 points while Siscely Mincher, Mia Whitney and Alana Signor all had 10.

Holy Cross was led by Ansley Beedy’s 11 points.

Amarillo High opens second half of 3-5A with a win 

Amarillo High was tested by the Palo Duro Lady Dons at home, however, were able to claim a hard fought 59-48 victory Tuesday night during a District 3-5A clash.

AHS (22-4 overall) stays in a first-place tie atop the district standings with Tascosa and Lubbock Monterey at 8-1. Palo Duro drops to 10-15 and 2-7 in the league race.

The Lady Dons kept it close despite the Lady Sandies building an 18-point lead after three quarters. Palo Duro chipped away in the fourth quarter, but the comeback fell short.

Bella Edwards was superb for the Lady Sandies scoring a team-high 22 points. Teammate Kam Soukup added 13. Palo Duro’s Alana Davis led all scorers with 23.

Tuesday’s top performers 

  • Kambrie Grasor of Canyon poured in 20 points that helped the Lady Eagles soar past Borger 55-44.
  • Dehilah Martin had a career night scoring 29 points while pulling down an eye-opening 25 rebounds for a double-double as Pringle-Morse handled Accelerate Christian 70-32 in a non-district matchup.
  • West Plains stayed unbeaten in District 4-4A moving to 6-0 by downing Dumas 72-28. Piper Patterson was a big reason for the Lady Wolves win scoring a game-high 24 points.
  • Dalhart’s Kaetlin Sundvahl dropped in a game-high 22 points in the Lady Wolves 90-19 victory against Tulia.
  • Farwell stayed perfect in district beating up Sudan 75-35. Makylee Baldwin had a great game pouring in 25 points.
  • DJ Degraaf had the hot-hand scoring 17 points behind five 3-pointers during Vega’s 45-30 home win against Gruver.
  • Clarendon’s Kenidee Hayes went for a game-high 16 points as the Lady Broncos dismantled Memphis 76-21.
  • Wellington took down Wheeler 65-21 with help from Harlee Gomez’s 21 points.
  • Bree Perez tallied 18 points to help Claude edge Lefors 50-48.
  • Shamrock’s Onnarae Dean’s 20 points gave the Lady Irish a boost during a 49-31 win against Groom.
  • Jaikylie Baker continued her strong season with 14 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double in a Kress win over Hart 48-30.
