Playing with extremely heavy hearts, the Lady Wolves pulled together and gave their best effort to deliver the community a much-needed smile with a huge 34-30 road win at Canadian in a District 1-3A showdown on Friday night.

The Lady Wolves (20-10 overall) are playoff bound with the victory and pull into a first-place tie in the district race with Spearman at 6-1 while Canadian (19-10) falls a game back at 5-2.

Canadian led 21-14 at half, but Dalhart was able to chip away cutting the deficit 24-21 by the end of three. In the fourth quarter, The Lady Wolves came in clutch down the stretch outscoring the Lady Cats 13-6.

Joie Read, the daughter of Dalhart head football coach, Joey, scored a team-high 10 points with teammate Evelyn Quiroz chipping in nine. Canadian’s Cazzlee Waite had a game-high 12 points.

West Plains stuns Randall

After suffering a tough loss to Canyon on Tuesday, the West Plains Lady Wolves rallied back getting that signature win they’d been looking for stunning rival Randall 57-54 at home on Friday night.

The win pushes West Plains (22-8 overall) to 9-3 in District 4-4A while Randall (24-6) suffers its first district loss of the season falling to 10-1. Randall also falls into a first-place tie with Canyon with a huge matchup between the Lady Raiders and Lady Eagles coming on Tuesday.

West Plains got out to a great start like they did against Canyon on Tuesday taking a 26-21 lead on Randall at the half. Unlike Tuesday, where the second half got away from the Lady Wolves, West Plains pulled together to hold off the Lady Raiders and come away with their biggest win on the year.

Dane’ja Agu-White scored a game-high 15 points to lead West Plains. Despite the loss, Randall standout Sadie Sanchez posted an impressive game-high 34 points.

Friday’s top performers

Welcome back Hannon Lankford. Gruver’s junior sharpshooter and the daughter of head coach Trent Lankford made her first appearance on the court since the Lady Hounds UIL Class 2A state championship game last season. After suffering an injury last spring, Lankford made her way back Friday night scoring seven points during Gruver’s 48-24 win over Booker.

Tascosa’s Avery Carter poured in 21 points as the Lady Rebels punched a ticket to the Class 5A playoffs by downing Caprock 73-25.

Brooklyn Boyett of Bushland had a massive outing scoring a career-high 38 points in a Lady Falcon 56-41 win against Tulia.

Addison Bell racked up 24 points that helped Stratford stay unbeaten in District 1-2A with a 64-27 home win against West Texas High.

Pampa’s Cambree Dyer dropped in a game-high 17 in a 59-42 home win over Perryton.

Wheeler’s Mackrina Herrera tallied 27 points while teammate Holden Holwick racked up a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists during the Lady Mustangs 62-22 victory against rival Shamrock.

Trinity Schlueter of Valley posted 22 points to keep the Lady Patriots perfec in district with a 62-22 dismantling of White Deer.

Groom stunned Claude 38-36 after falling 65-29 to the Lady Mustangs just two weeks ago. Mollie Babcock was a big reason for the victory scoring a game-high 15 points for the Lady Tigers.
