Amarillo-area boys district basketball scores for January 14th

Gruver stays unbeaten edging West Texas High 

It was a battle as expected but in the end the Gruver Greyhounds were able to keep the top spot in District 1-2A by getting a huge road win at West Texas High 63-54 on Tuesday night.

The Greyhounds (9-0 overall) also remain undefeated on the season and are now 5-0 in the district race. The Comanches (18-3) slip to 4-2 in the league.

Gruver was able to keep WT High at arm’s length for the majority of the night leading throughout the entire way.

Mason Lankford and Briggs Satterfield played pivotal roles in the victory for the Greyhounds combining for 37 points. The freshman Lankford led Gruver with 19 followed by Satterfield’s 18.

Despite the loss, Cayde Winters played outstanding leading the Comanches with a game-high 24 points.

Tuesday’s top performers 

Panhandle picked up a very big 42-32 home win over Clarendon to pull into a three-way tie for first place in District 2-2A. Wes Kuehler led the charge scoring a game-high 16 points.

Fresh off his school-record 50-point effort last week, Randall sophomore Christian Smith lit up Perryton for 23 points as Randall hit the century mark once again beating the Rangers 102-32.

Farwell’s Braddock Foster dropped in 28 points during the Steers 92-34 win against Bovina.

Braddek Darnell of Wildorado couldn’t miss scoring 33 points during the Mustangs 73-41 victory at Pringle-Morse.

Corbin and Kanyon Taylor combined for 48 points in Valley’s 102-53-win against Motley County. Corbin scored 27 followed by Kanyon’s 21.

Kaden Hooker of West Plains tallied a 19-point night to help the Wolves secure a 59-29 win against Borger.

Dumas fended off Hereford 65-62 for a big District 4-4A win. Jonathan Chavez stepped up for the Demons scoring 14 points.

Tulia continues to turn heads after getting off to a 2-0 start to league play beating Canadian 55-50. Zaiden Jalomo went for 17 points with four assists to lead the Hornets.

Tripp Purcell’s 15 points was enough to get Bushland a district win against Dalhart 53-47.

Booker guard Julian Barton helped the Kiowas to a key 59-55 win over Fort Elliott scoring 22 points.
