On the course: The Canyon Lady Eagles dominated the District 4-4A Tournament and Shulte’s performance was a big reason why. Canyon posted a two-day total of 330-322— 652, which was 111 strokes better than second place Dumas (385-378— 763).

Schulte claimed gold as the district individual champion with two impressive rounds. During the opening round on the Ross Rogers Gold Complex WildHorse course, Schulte shot a 77. Schulte followed that up at Pheasant Trails Golf Course in Dumas with a 74, going even par on the back nine holes to win the event with a two-day score of 151.

Coach Ricky Guy: “Shaylin was really focused and struck the ball really well. She hit a lot of greens in regulation, and putted with a lot of confidence. One thing I love Shaylin does is she plays with a smile and a purpose. She puts trust in herself and has fun. She’s an exceptional player and a better young person. Shaylin is always considerate, she’s a great teammate, and works exceptionally hard to always get better. She constantly works on her game.”

Schulte: “It was great to win the district team title again. My teammate, Grace Sutton, and I have been playing sports forever together, and we just have a great team overall. It’s just been a fun golf season so far. My goal was to have two rounds in 70’s before regional. I shot 77 in first round. I was happy with that though I left some shots out there. In second round at Dumas I felt really good and took advantage on back nine to shoot even par. We are now ready for regionals and to make a run at state.”
