Kambree Gonzalez, Randall volleyball, Sr.
On the court: Gonzalez and the Randall Lady Raiders had an extremely strong showing hosting the Randall Showcase Tournament last weekend at the Leslie Broadhurst Gymnasium. The Lady Raiders went a perfect 4-0 over Friday and Saturday getting victories against San Angelo (25-20, 25-23, 25-23), Vega (25-12, 25-11, 25-10), Palo Duro (25-6, 25-8, 25-5) and Tascosa (25-19, 25-15, 25-18. Gonzalez had a great four games helping lead her team. In those wins, the senior libero totaled 55 digs with 10 assists and was great at the service line combining for seven aces. On the season so far, Gonzalez leads the team 296 digs and has tacked on 39 aces.
Coach Karli Morrison: “I like how we’ve started the season, but I look at the losses more than the wins at this point. We’ve learned a lot more in the five losses and though we have competed well in those games, we have a lot to work on. Kambree has been a huge influence on this team this year. We have a lot of young players and Kambree has been the most consistent on this team so far. I love how she leads and her serving has improved. She has always been a great defensive player, but she has gotten so much better on herself. She is a perfectionist and she always had trough of letting things go. I think this year she is doing a better job of relying on her team and letting go of those mistakes.”
Gonzalez: “This team has grown a lot as the season has gone on. We’re learning how to play together and we’re learning on how to rely on one another. For myself, I feel my leadership has gotten better and I’m doing my best to be an example for my teammates. I think I’ve gotten better and I know I can keep improving. I’m trying to let go of my mistakes more, and I know that’s where my teammates come in. I know they can pick me up and they are always there for me.”
