On the mound, the Greyhounds shut WT High down on both days. Pittman threw five scoreless innings for the win Tuesday, scattering four hits with eight strikeouts. On Saturday, Briggs Satterfield went four innings giving up just three hits without a run with four K’s.

Sunray bounced back after a tough stretch last week by blasting Highland Park 17-1 on Tuesday then getting an 18-2 victory Friday.

The Bobcats are now sitting at 3-3 in District 1-2A and 10-5 overall.

Valen Swinford had quite the series going a combined 5-for-8 in the pair of wins with two doubles, a triple on top of eight RBIs. Swinford also tossed four innings Friday giving up just three hits and a run while piling up 11 strikeouts.

District 4-4A

Randall stays in playoff hunt

The district playoff picture is now in much sharper focus with the final week of the regular season looming. Canyon and West Plains had already clinched playoff spots, as had Hereford earlier in the week.

Randall now has the best shot at claiming the fourth and final playoff spot, and the Raiders need one win or a loss by Dumas next week to grab it. After struggling at the plate for three games, Randall broke out big time this past week, beating Pampa 11-1 in a 10-run mercy rule decision in six innings on Tuesday, then jumped out to a big early lead and held on to beat Hereford at home 12-10 on Friday. In that victory against Hereford, Diego Flanagan was 3-for-4 with a double and home run for the Raiders tallying four RBIs.

District 3-5A

Tascosa stays alive mathematically by beating Palo Duro

The Tascosa Rebels playoff chances were dwindling going into the week, but they were still officially alive at the end of Friday evening.

Tascosa won the first of two matchups with crosstown rival Palo Duro on Friday, winning 7-1 at home as the Rebels kept their flickering playoff hopes alive with the win. The Rebels (16-14, 5-8) scored five runs in the bottom of the first to jump on Palo Duro (9-18, 2-11), scoring all of their runs with two outs.

Sam Adams and Jaxon Armstrong both drove home runs with doubles in the inning. Zayden Brewer got the win on the mound, throwing six innings and giving up only three hits while striking out eight.

Tascosa, who will play at Palo Duro at 1 p.m. Saturday, stayed alive because both Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock Monterey both lost. However, if both Lubbock schools win just one of their final three games or the Rebels lose one, Tascosa is eliminated.

District 1-3A

Bushland clinches share of district crown

The Bushland Falcons continued to stay hot at the plate this week to clinch no worse than a share of the district title.

Bushland scored a pair of run-rule wins, beating Tulia 11-1 on Tuesday and River Road 20-2 on Friday. The Falcons (20-6, 10-1) now have a game and a half lead over Tulia, and beat Tulia in two out of three meetings this season.

River Road (3-15, 0-11) especially felt the brunt of the beating from Bushland, as the Falcons scored 19 runs in the first two innings at home to roll to victory. Colton Strickland, Wade McConnell and Lincoln Krause all drove in three runs for Bushland in the rout.

The district’s four playoff teams have already been decided, with only River Road having been eliminated.

District 3-1A

Nazareth is on cruise control

The Nazareth Swifts continue to obliterate anyone in their path when it comes to District 3-1A. On Tuesday, the Swifts run-ruled Crosbyton on the road by a 21-3 count.

Nazareth is sitting at 7-4 on the year and a perfect 5-0 in district. Through those five district games, the Swifts have been completely dominant by outscoring their opponent a combined 108-7.

Against the Chieftains, Breck Proctor delivered a two-run double and pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts.
