The No. 1-ranked Dumas Demonettes are living up to that ranking after securing a District 4-4A championship after blasting Borger 15-0 on Tuesday and hammering Canyon 16-2 at home Friday afternoon.
With the pair of victories, Dumas (27-2-1) stay unbeaten in league play at 12-0, winning the 4-4A title for a third straight year. The Demonettes will be the No. 1-seed in the UIL Class 4A Division Division I playoffs.
Against Borger, Aaliyah Chairez had the hot bat going 3-for-4 with a double, and a triple while tallying an RBI. Teammate Emarie Marquez added a grand slam.

Fierro jumped all over Canyon pitching by blasting two homers on a 2-for-3 day at the dish to total five RBIs. Mia Fry and Madi Zubia also went deep in the victory. Star Cortes continues her march towards district MVP. Cortes was lights out in the circle tossing all five innings against the Lady Eagles, allowing one run with four strikeouts.
Dumas will wrap up the regular season at West Plains on Tuesday and hosting Pampa on Friday.
Canyon (19-11 overall) has secured a playoff berth at 9-3 in league action.
District quick hits
Amarillo High has secured at least a share of the District 3-5A championship with a 7-1 win over Tascosa on Tuesday before falling 9-6 at Lubbock Monterey on Friday. The Lady Sandies (22-9-1) are 13-2 in district play with one game remaining. Against Tascosa, Brylee Baker was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Caprock is keeping its playoff hopes alive with a pair of victories this past week. The Lady Longhorns defeated Palo Duro 16-0 on Tuesday and then blanked Lubbock Coronado 16-0 on Friday. The Lady Longhorns (16-12-2) are 9-6 in District 3-5A and can clinch at least a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with a win over Plainview on Tuesday. Grace Morales was a combined 4-for-6 in both wins with three doubles and four total RBIs.
Following a 5-4 loss to Canyon on Tuesday, Randall bounced back in a big way getting a huge 1-0 shutout over rival West Plains on Friday. The Lady Raiders were able to get the dramatic win over the Lady Wolves thanks to a walk-off solo shot from Tatum Gibson. Randall pitcher Alyssa Navarrete worked a complete game shutout with 10 K’s. The Lady Raiders are now 22-8 overall and 8-4 in District 4-4A.
River Road stayed red hot handing Childress its first District 1-3A loss by an 8-4 count on Tuesday. River Road (16-12) is a game back of the Lady Bobcats (21-2-1, 7-1 in district) sitting at 6-2 in district. AshLynn Ferris is playing at another level of late and that continued against Childress, as the junior went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and homer to register four RBIs. Ferris also threw all seven innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs with 12 strikeouts.
Bushland stayed a game back of Childress with a 19-0 shutout over Dalhart. The Lady Falcons improve to 12-14 on the year and 6-2 in District 1-3A. Chayney Snelson hit for the cycle going 4-for-4 with five RBIs against the Lady Wolves.
In District 1-2A, Sanford-Fritch knocked off Sunray 16-1 and led 15-12 in the second game of a doubleheader Friday before getting postponed due to rainy conditions. The Lady Eagles (11-6-1) are a game up on West Texas High in league play at 5-1 and will finish the game with the Lady Bobcats on Monday. Lincoln Bidwell delivered on a grand slam in the first game against Sunray while Bryleigh Carr was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
West Texas High is right behind Sanford-Fritch in the standings following two victories the past week. The Lady Comanches (14-4, 6-2 in district) took down Highland Park 16-4, then beat Gruver 16-1 on Saturday. Haven Lee went a combined 4-for-7 in the pair of wins with four RBIs at the plate, and worked a total of nine innings with a combined 15 strikeouts.
