
Even more districts have gotten underway as of Tuesday night. With District 3-5A in full swing, District 4-4A girls’ along with a host of Class 2A districts also tipped off. Take a look at a busy Tuesday night across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains that included Panhandle’s dominating win over Clarendon, Canyon handling Pampa and Gruver’s blowout of West Texas High.
District 2-2A Girls
The Panhandle Ettes got off on the right foot to open District 2-2A play by handling rival Clarendon 49-28 at home Tuesday night.
In a battle of two of the top teams out of the league, the Ettes jumped all over the Lady Broncos with a commanding 13-4 first quarter. The Ettes then took over in the second half taking a 34-23 lead after three, before putting away Clarendon in the fourth quarter.

Panhandle is on a roll to open the year at 16-1 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Talented junior guard Riley Segura led the Ettes with a game-high 13 points. Teammate Evan Shadid poured in 12 and Addison McCoid went for 10. Clarendon’s Kenidee Hayes did have seven points.
District 1-2A Girls
The Gruver Lady Hounds made quite the statement to open league action Tuesday by getting an 89-16 blowout win over West Texas High on the road.
The Lady Hounds saw two big scoring nights from Kortlyn Born and Payton Merkel, as the duo combined for 52 points. Born went off for a game-high 29 points with Merkel following with 23.
Gruver (11-5) and 1-0 in district.
Stratford was able to tip-off District 1-2A play with a 58-51 win at Sunray on Tuesday night.
The Lady Elks push their overall record to 7-9 on the year and 1-0 in district. Junior post Madi Braden paced Stratford with a huge effort scoring a game-best 30 points.
District 2-1A Girls
In one of the better games Tuesday, White Deer was able to get a huge home win by slipping by Claude, 44-41, in overtime.
The Does and Lady Mustangs were tied 37-37 following regulation, but the Does were able to outscore Claude 7-4 in the OT frame.
Kynzlee Martin had a strong night for White Deer going for a team-high 15 points, with nine of those coming in the third quarter. Teammate Cooper Cone tallied 11 with three of those coming in overtime.
Claude’s Briar Behrens did have a game-high 19 points.
White Deer (13-7 overall) stays in control of District 2-1A at 2-0.
District 4-4A Girls
It was a solid start for the Canyon Lady Eagles to District 4-4A play with Canyon pummeling Pampa 78-28 at the Joe Lombard Gymnasium on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles are now 12-1 on the year and 1-0 in district action. Tai Wright was the offensive catalyst, scoring a game-high 16 points. Kambrie Grasor posted 15, Gracie Lunsford tallied 13 and BK Crockett added 11.
West Plains found the win column in its district opener by bullying Borger on the road, 50-31, on Tuesday.
The win pushes the Lady Wolves to 1-0 in 4-4A and 7-9 overall. Addi Hahn registered a team-best 10 points for the Lady Wolves. Borger’s Callye Garcia had a game-high 18.
District 3-5A Girls
In another busy night of district hoops, Palo Duro pulled off a huge road win, knocking off Lubbock Coronado 48-36 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Dons saw Tayleeh Meander go for a game-best 15 points. Teammate Zeinab Deng chipped in 12, and D’Zyire Burks showed her versatility with eight points, eight rebounds and seven steals. With the victory, Palo Duro is now 15-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play.
Amarillo High kept on rolling with a 61-22 thumping of Caprock on Tuesday. The Lady Sandies stayed unbeaten at 4-0 in District 3-5A and 15-3 overall. Caprock slips to 9-7, 1-3.
Ella Brown had the hot-hand for AHS, posting 20 points. Teammate Mazzy Budd went for 11.
District 2-1A Boys
The White Deer Bucks stayed hot in District 2-1A by running away from Claude 56-39 on Tuesday night at the Bucks Gym.
The Bucks are now 7-9 overall but more importantly 2-0 in the league.
Braxton Brown had a big night for White Deer scoring 14 points with seven of those coming in the opening frame. Isaac Lanham added 13 for the Bucks.
McLean kept on rolling with a 75-37 win at Shamrock on Tuesday. The Tigers were led by standout Collin Alston’s 28 points. Teammate Andrew Montoya was also clutch with 14.
The Tigers improve to 2-0 in district and are a perfect 9-0 overall.
District 3-5A
Palo Duro went on the road and took care of business in a 74-42 win at Lubbock Coronado.
The Dons are off to a fast start on the year at 9-3 overall while moving to 1-0 in District 3-5A. Palo Duro had three players finish in double-digits led by Cuda Clayton. Clayton was tough for the Mustangs defense scoring a game-high 23 points. DaJuan Flenory followed with 15 and Kyron Brown went for 13.
