Berklee Billington, Bushland volleyball, Soph.
On the court: Behind Billington the Bushland Lady Falcons are rolling through District 1-3A and were able to celebrate a very rare milestone celebrating a 14-year, 100 straight district win streak during a sweep of River Road on Saturday. On top of her Saturday performance, the hard-hitting sophomore put together quite the past week totaling 28 kills and showing off her defense with 31 digs.
On the season, Billington is getting better and better and it shows totaling 386 kills through 38 games with 301 digs and 49 blocks.
Coach Jason Culpepper: “I think we are doing a good job as a team of getting more consistent in what we are doing. It’s coming together during district and you can see the young players growing up and coming into their own. Berklee is someone I saw a lot in. She is coachable and wants to be good for her teammates. She shows up and works hard everyday and I think she’s doing a good job of hitting her spots on the court and improving greatly. She is also more of a leader but that’s more by example.”
Billington: “It was special to be a part of that 100-game district win streak. There have been a lot special Bushland teams and It was fun to enjoy it with my teammates. We are playing really good right now and we want to keep it going. I think where I’ve improved the most, is I’m hitting my spots on the court and being there as much as I can for the team the most. I am more explosive and we just want to keep winning and getting better as we go.”
