District play from across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains carried on Tuesday night with a busy schedule. Here’s a recap of how it all played out including Frenship Memorial’s sweep of Snyder, Canyon’s win at Hereford and Sanford-Fritch defended home court beating West Texas High.
District 5-4A
Frenship Memorial kept a stronghold on second place in District 5-4A beating Snyder on Tuesday night in a three-set sweep, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21, at home.
Memorial improves to 6-2 in league play and 22-8 on the season. Snyder drops to 2-5 in district and 10-18.
Mercedes Rodriguez had a special night for the Lady Panthers. Rodriguez was one dig short of a double-double getting nine digs with 19 assists and earned her 350th career kill on the evening. Mackenzie Ivy put together a solid effort on the front row with a team-best 10 kills, Bailey Layher added eight kills and Olivia Villegas went for seven kills and four digs.
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty remains undefeated in District 5-4A play sweeping Levelland 25-14, 25-7, 25-10, on Tuesday. Liberty is 35-2 overall on the season have clinched a UIL Class 4A Division II playoff berth moving to 8-0 in district.
Beeler Campbell totaled five aces for the Lady Patriots and 10 kills. Lexie Allgood also had 10 kills.

There weren’t any surprises as the teams expected to win did just that in District 4-4A on Tuesday.
Highlighting action was the Canyon Lady Eagles going on the road and defeating rival Hereford, 25-14, 27-25, 25-15. The Lady Eagles (17-14) stay two games back of Randall for first place at 7-2. Hereford (15-17) falls to 3-6 in district. Laney Jones was on the attack the entire night knocking down 13 kills for Canyon. Aiva Kerr was stellar defensively getting on the floor for 26 digs and Brylee McElroy paced the offense with 20 assists. Hereford’s Karizma Rivera led the team with seven kills.
West Plains stayed with Canyon going to Pampa and leaving with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-15, victory. The Lady Wolves (25-11) are 7-2 in District 4-4A while the Lady Harvesters (17-12) drop to 3-6. Kynzie Ward and Aaniyah Kitchen dominated at the net combining for 29 kills. Ward had a team-high 15 and Kitchen registered 14. Cecilia Murillo fed both hitters with 23 assists.
Randall continues to roll staying undefeated in District 4-4A rolling by Borger 25-15, 25-15, 25-10. Kambree Gonzalez did her job defensively with 22 digs, Chloe Brown had 11 kills with teammate Nevaeh Conner chipping in with 10 digs. The Lady Raiders have clinched a Class 4A Division II playoff spot moving to 9-0 in the league and 23-12 overall. The Lady Bulldogs are now 9-20, 0-9.
Dumas was able to stretch its lead for the fourth and final playoff spot to three games after beating Perryton 25-16, 25-20, 25-23. The Demonettes (19-16) improve to 6-3 in district action. Perryton falls to 8-19, 1-8. Haley Winegarner tallied 11 kills for Dumas and Sophie Clements passed out 15 assists.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High is playoff bound following a 25-11, 25-12, 25-16, sweep at Caprock on Tuesday. The Lady Sandies, who will compete in the UIL Class 5A Division I playoffs, are 12-0 in the league and 26-8 on the year. Harper Vaughn has become a double-double machine and that carried on once again as the sophomore totaled 13 kills with 10 assists against the Lady Longhorns. Bennett Rea led AHS with 18 assists.
In some other scores across the district Tuesday, Lubbock-Cooper defeated Plainview (25-15, 25-10, 25-16), Lubbock Monterey beat Lubbock High (25-11, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17), and Lubbock Coronado knocked off Palo Duro (25-19, 25-13, 25-22).
District 2-3A
The Shallowater Fillies had a unique Tuesday night. Not only did Shallowater sweep Lubbock Talkington in a District 2-3A match, the Fillies also beat Abilene High in five sets in a rare non-district clash.
The Fillies beat Talkington 25-9, 25-14, 25-13, then turned around to hold off Abilene High, 16-25, 30-28, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10. Shallowater (27-9) is all alone in first place of the district at 5-0 while Talkington (9-18) slips to 2-3.
Shallowater sensation Emma Clawson surpassed quite the milestone. The All-State outside hitter combined for 36 kills on the night, including 20 against AHS, to go over 1,100 kills for her amazing career.
Idalou stayed a game back of Shallowater sweeping Tulia 25-15, 25-18, 25-23. The Lady Wildcats (20-13) are now 4-1 in District 2-3A. The Lady Hornets fall to 10-11, 0-5. Kambrie Roye had a team-high 10 kills for Idalou followed by teammate Briley Stephens with nine kills.
Childress stayed in the top half of the district race downing Littlefield at home, 25-13, 26-24, 25-23. The Lady Bobcats (15-18) are in third place in the district at 3-2.
District 1-3A
Fresh off of celebrating 100 straight district wins over 14 years, Bushland ran that streak to 101 soaring by Friona 25-14, 25-7, 25-16. The Lady Falcons are in complete control of District 1-3A at 4-0 and have pushed their overall record to 31-8. The Squaws fall to 18-6 overall and 2-2. Bushland outside hitter Berklee Billington scored a double-double with 18 kills and 15 digs. Laynee Adams slammed down 12 kills and Ava Permenter dished out 20 assists.
Dalhart is all alone in second place after handling River Road 25-9, 25-12, 25-18. Kammi Maddox was too much for the Lady Wildcats to handle going for 12 kills and 12 assists for a double-double. Remi Johnson added nine kills and Kaetlin Sundvahl facilitated the offense thanks to 20 assists. Dalhart (27-6-2) is now 3-1 in the league. River Road (20-10) drops to 1-3.
District 1-2A
Sanford-Fritch and Vega are set for a district showdown Friday after the two teams stayed perfect in league play with wins Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles were able to get by rival West Texas High at home, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18. Emma Williams was key in the win with 13 kills and Faith Graves had a great outing on the front row with four blocks. Teammate Sydney Riggle chipped in 14 assists. Sanford-Fritch is 2-0 in district and 17-8 overall. The Lady Comanches (6-15) are now 0-2.
Vega made it eight straight district wins dating back to last year with a sweep of Highland Park, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12. The Lady Longhorns push their record to 15-19 overall but more importantly 2-0 in district play. Khloe Griffitt led Vega with 13 digs, six kills and four blocks. Teammate Blakely Brorman added 16 assists and seven digs with DJ De Graaf playing well on the back row with 14 digs. Despite the loss, Highland Park’s (10-20, 0-2) Kaitlin Lucas paced the team with 18 digs.
Vega will travel to Sanford-Fritch for a district showdown at 4 p.m. Friday.
District 1-1A
Fort Elliott stayed in complete control of District 1-1A getting a three-set sweep of Wildorado 25-15, 25-8, 25-8, on Tuesday. Brylie Hand was outstanding in the victory leading the Lady Cougars with 23 digs. Jaylie Dickey served superbly with six aces to go with 11 digs and Jaycee Sewell tallied a double-double with 17 assists and 11 digs. Fort Elliott is playoff bound at 9-0 in district and 23-6 overall.
Miami a game back of first place handling Channing, 25-1, 25-3, 25-2. The Lady Warriors move to 8-1 in the league and 16-6 overall. Bentley Brooks continued her great year with 21 aces and six assists.
In two other matchups Tuesday, Kelton defeated White Deer (25-6, 25-6, 25-10) and Shamrock handled Darrouzett (25-12, 25-14, 25-20).
Tuesday’s quick hits
Frenship stayed hot in District 2-6A earning another win this time against Odessa High, 25-18, 25-19, 27-25. The Lady Tigers improve to 4-1 in District 2-6A and 24-13 overall. Reese Roberts had a star performance with 12 kills and 12 digs for a double-double. Bliss Dane chipped in with 14 digs and eight kills.
San Jacinto Christian Academy picked up a 25-19, 25-16, 25-16, sweep of Kingdom Prep on Tuesday. The Lady Patriots (27-5) are in second place of TAPPS District 1-2A at 8-1. Blayne Robison continued her outstanding season with 26 assists in the match. Jenni Bell and Alayna Daniel each had 10 kills and Daniel added 10 digs for a double-double. In one other district score, Holy Cross Catholic Academy defeated Ascension Academy on Monday, 27-25, 25-22, 27-25.
