On the field: The Palo Duro Dons are off to a 4-1 start to the season and catching more and more attention by the week. The Dons grabbed major headlines across the state last Friday by going on the road and absolutely dominating Wichita Falls Memorial 48-6. Reese II, better known by his nickname “Deuce”, facilitated the Palo Duro offense to a near perfect performance as the Dons totaled over 500 yards. Reese II picked a part the Memorial defense throughout the night going 15-of-18 for 243 yards with four touchdowns and ran for another 28 yards. Defensively, Reese II also made two tackles.

So far on the season, Reese II is having quite the year completing 71-of-106 passes for 943 yards with nine touchdowns to only one interception.

Coach Eric Mims: “Getting a win at Memorial was huge for this team. We haven’t played well on road in the past and we had been in Amarillo playing at home all season so far. We preached to the players this was a business trip and they went in and took care of business. I think that gives us a lot of confidence. Deuce is a big reason why we’re playing how we are right now. The game is slowing down to him, he is understanding the coverages and what the defenses gives him, and he has great timing on when to get out of the pocket. He’s a year older, he’s a veteran in our system and I love what he is doing for us.”

Reese II: “I think the team is very focused this year. We showed up all summer and put in the work and then we kept that going in August and even to now. This year is moving fast but I love how we’re playing and getting better. For me, I feel like I’m doing a better job at making the right decisions. I am reading the coverages and I know where to go with the ball. I have great teammates and we just want to keep up what we are doing.”
