On the field: In only their third year as a program, the West Plains Wolves are already in uncharted waters getting set to compete in the school’s first ever UIL state semifinals when West Plains takes on Celina on Friday night.

Junior gunslinger Macon is one of those players leading that charge. During a thrilling 42-35 victory over Stephenville last week, Macon led a stellar offensive performance dicing up the defense by going 18-of-22 (81 percent) throwing for 261 yards with three touchdowns. Macon also tacked on 47 yards rushing with two more scores.

On the season, Macon has thrown for an impressive 3,261 yards with 34 touchdowns while adding 533 yards rushing with 15 more scores.

Coach Adam Cummings: “We’re playing as good as we can be but I still don’t think we’ve reached the potential we’re capable of. It’s been exciting to see all the guys come together, and the light bulbs come on. This has been a pretty special run. Reid is a huge factor for what we’re doing. He’s a great leader. He’s not scared to speak his mind, he prepares like no one else and he’s another coach on the field. No moment is too big for him, and he plays with a chip on his shoulder.”

Macon: “I think offensive line is doing a great job up front and the entire offense has been executing the game plan. We are playing with a lot of confidence and I’m playing with a lot confidence. We all trust each other, and everyone is focused on doing whatever it takes to keep winning.”
