Jmaury Davis, Clarendon, RB, Sr.
Davis has been on a torrid pace blistering defenses during the Broncos seven-game win streak and the Texas Tech commit kept that trend going in a 23-20 victory against Shamrock. Davis put the Broncos on his back using his speed to pull away from the Irish for 235 yards on 36 carries with two touchdowns.
Kalub Ramirez, Hereford, QB, Fr.
Ramirez didn’t show any freshman nerves leading Hereford to its first win of the season 35-24 over Randall and one of the biggest upsets of 2022. Ramirez torched the Raider defense going 20-of-29 for 376 yards with an eye-popping five touchdown passes. With the win, Hereford is still in the playoff hunt.
Isaias Dominguez, Perryton, RB, Sr.
Dominguez was making sure the Rangers were heading to the playoffs making huge plays on both sides of the football. Offensively, the senior chewed up 214 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. On the defensive side, Dominguez racked up six tackles.
Haiden Thompson, Miami, SB-LB, Jr.
Thompson was electric the entire night in Miami’s huge 40-38 win against McLean that kept the Warriors playoff hopes alive. Thompson made the game-winning field goal with seven seconds to play. Thompson then showed off his arm throwing for 170 yards with three TD tosses, used his legs to rack up 167 yards with two more scores. Thompson made 14 tackles on defense, had an interception, and kicked three extra-points. The junior also went over 100 career touchdowns in the victory.
Hudson Farris, Tascosa, QB, Sr.
Farris managed a very sound Tascosa offense that dominated in the second half of a 28-14 win at Lubbock-Cooper. Farris punched in a touchdown to close out the first half that gave the Rebels the lead for good at 14-7. In the second half, Farris and the offense kept the ball away from the Pirates to put the game away. Farris ended his night running the ball 22 times for 117 yards with two touchdowns.
Chris LaBue, Canyon, RB-LB, Sr.
LaBue gave the Eagles a much needed second half spark against Dumas as the Eagles rallied for a thrilling 22-21 victory. The running back was put in the Wildcat formation in the third quarter and made an immediate impact going 39-yards for a score. LaBue played physical, ran downhill, ending the game with 155 yards on 16 carries. On the defensive side, the linebacker was equally impressive with 16 tackles.
Shayne Franks, Follett, RB-LB, Sr.
Franks put the Panthers in the playoffs with a heck of a performance in a 54-8 thumping of White Deer. The senior leader toted the rock 14 times for 172 yards with three touchdowns, made nine total tackles on defense with an interception.
J.Q. Ervin, Amarillo High, RB, Jr.
Ervin made a triumphant return after missing the last nine weeks with an injury helping keep Amarillo High’s playoff hopes alive in a 17-7 win over Abilene High. Ervin turned the momentum in the third quarter busting loose for a 58-yard touchdown scamper that gave the Sandies the lead for good. Ervin ended his comeback with 65 rushing yards on only seven carries with two touchdowns.
Jose Saucedo, Friona, QB, Jr.
The junior dual threat quarterback was efficient with his arm and his quick feet in Friona’s 14-10 victory against Spearman that landed the Chieftains in the postseason. Saucedo went 8-of-15 passing for 78 yards that included a 46-yard TD pass, and he ran for a 48-yard score.
Austin Valle, Memphis, RB, Sr.
Valle and the Cyclones are postseason bound after nabbing a 16-6 victory against Wheeler. Valle made sure Memphis wasn’t going to be denied a playoff spot by putting his team on his back with 138 yards on 19 carries and scored both touchdowns.
