High School Softball playoff roundup: Bushland rallies past Idalou, Canyon sweeps Andrews

After dropping the first game Friday, Bushland rallied back for a pair of wins Saturday and Monday to take down Idalou for a second year in a row in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals.

Idalou won a 3-2 thriller Friday in Floydada only to see the Lady Falcons explode for seven home runs during an 18-6 victory on Saturday at Caprock.

During Monday’s decisive rubber match back in Floydada, Bushland was able to handcuff the Lady Wildcats 6-1 behind a strong pitching effort from Brylee Adams.

Bushland (31-9) advances to the regional semifinals for a fifth year in a row. The Lady Falcons are set to take on Coahoma with the best-of-3 series starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday night at Lubbock Cooper.

Brylee Adams dominated in the circle Monday night tossing all seven innings scattering four hits, allowing a run with four strikeouts. Adams also delivered a 2-run homer in the contest.

Leading 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Bushland broke the game open when Jaycee Adams drove home two runs on a triple pushing the advantage, 5-1.

The Lady Falcons are currently at 88 home runs tying their own state record from last season.

Canyon sweeps Andrews

Canyon is headed to the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

The Lady Eagles dismantled Andrews with convincing 15-6, and 11-2 victories over the weekend in the Class 4A regional quarterfinal round.

Canyon is now an impressive 28-10 on the season and will face Argyle (26-10-1) in the regional semifinals with Game 1 of a best-of-3 series starting at 6 p.m. Friday on the campus of Midwestern State University.

Berkley Bradley had a tremendous series going a combined 5-for-7 with two home runs, a double, totaling six RBIs.

Pitcher Kylie Knowles worked a strong second game throwing all seven innings, allowing two earned runs with four K’s.

Lubbock Monterey sweeps Amarillo High, 2-0

Game 1: Monterey 15, Amarillo High 1

Game 2: Lubbock Monterey 3, Amarillo High 2

Records: Lubbock Monterey 33-4-1; Amarillo High 26-14-1.

Abilene Wylie sweeps Randall, 2-0

Game 1: Abilene Wylie 6, Randall 5

Game 2: Abilene Wylie 2, Randall 1

Records: Abilene Wylie 23-7; Randall 24-13-1.

Class 4A

Canyon sweeps Andrews, 2-0

Game 1: Canyon 15, Andrews 6

Game 2: Canyon 11, Andrews 2

Records: Canyon 28-10; Andrews 15-11-1.

Monahans sweeps Pampa, 2-0

Game 1: Monahans 2, Pampa 1

Game 2: Monahans 4, Pampa 3

Records: Monahans 24-6; Pampa 27-10-1.

Class 3A

Bushland def. Idalou, 2-1

Game 1: Idalou 3, Bushland 2

Game 2: Bushland 18, Idalou 6

Game 3: Bushland 6, Idalou 1

Lamesa sweeps River Road, 2-0

Game 1: Lamesa 11, River Road 0

Game 2: Lamesa 12, River Road 3

Floydada sweeps Clarendon, 2-0

Game 1: Floydada 13, Clarendon 3

Game 2: Floydada 9, Clarendon 2
