Amarillo High makes its unprecedented 58th appearance in the Texas High School state playoffs. The Sandies winning tradition started when they won four state championships from 1934-1940.

The total number of Texas Panhandle schools that advanced to the UIL high school football playoffs this year through six classifications.

Canadian has been a staple in the playoffs and number don’t lie. Canadian head coach Chris Koetting has won an incredible 33 postseason games, boasting a record of 33-7 in his ten seasons leading the Wildcats. During his tenure, Canadian has two Class 2A Division I state championships, played in three state title games and six state semifinals.

Head coach Chris Koetting has astounding 124-16 overall record in 10 seasons at Canadian.

It’s been 22 years since Dumas has won a playoff game. The Demons last playoff win came in 1997 when they beat Snyder, 23-20, in a Class 5A bidistrict matchup. Ironically it’s the last time Dumas went undefeated during the regular season.

Stratford will make its eighth straight trip to the UIL playoffs, however this number is a little deceiving. The Elks have made a home in the postseason, earning 20 trips in 21 years. During that span Stratford has won three state champions (2000, 2005, 2008).

Midland Greenwood will be the fifth undefeated team Perryton has faced this year. Perryton played Dumas, Lubbock Estacado, Bushland and Canadian during the regular season.
