Not only did Sheriff win his first career medal, but he also became the first athlete from Caprock to earn a medal state state since Kang Lueth (800-meter run) in 2016.

Coach Rob Soleyjacks: “I’m extremely proud of what Alhosan did at the state track meet and the season he had. He has worked so hard for this, and he’s the type of athlete that never takes the shortcut. He has the gift and to go with it he has the ability. He can triple jump, he was on our mile relay team that was very competitive. He is a high character young man that powers his teammates and though we asked him to do so much, he never broke down. The past couple of weeks he was able to go out and just focus on the hurdles and accomplish his goal. It was awesome to see.”

Sheriff: “Getting on the medal stand at the state track meet meant so much to me. It’s always been a dream of mine. My brother was able to get a medal and now I have one also. I feel like the past couple of weeks I’ve been able to just focus on the hurdles and that helped me refocus and reset. This was a great way to end my high school career and I couldn’t be happier.”
