The West Plains Lady Wolves put together a ninth inning rally that helped seal a 6-3 extra-inning win against rival Canyon on Friday afternoon at the Double Eagle Park in Canyon.
The victory not only gives West Plains the season sweep of the Lady Eagles, but it the Lady Wolves were able to finish the regular season in a second place tie with Canyon and Randall at 10-4 in District 4-4A. West Plains (20-10) will now head to the postseason as the No. 2-seed out of the district in Division I. Canyon (21-6-1, 10-4) will be the No. 1-seed out of the district in Division II.

West Plains looked to have the game against the Lady Eagles in hand Friday leading 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh. That was until the Lady Eagles rallied highlighted by a game-tying two-run home run by Ellie Mitchell. After a scoreless eighth, West Plains broke through in the top of the ninth. Already leading 4-3, Jaylen Kaps delivered the much needed insurance with a two-run single putting the Lady Wolves up 6-3.
Kaps was 3-for-5 at the plate and earned the win in the circle by tossing all nine innings, scattering five hits, allowing three runs with five strikeouts. Emory Chancler was 2-for-5 with an RBI and teammate Teagan Beck was also 2-for-5 that included a solo homer.
District quick hits
The Dumas Demonettes were able to close out the regular season in style with an 11-0 pummeling of Pampa on Friday. That victory gives Dumas an unblemished record through district as the 4-4A champions went a a remarkable 14-0. Dumas (29-2-1 overall) are headed to the playoffs as the No. 1-seed out of the district in Division I. In the shutout of the Lady Harvesters, Vida Fierro was 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and two RBIs. Aaliyah Chairez was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish with a home run blast, a double and three RBIs, and Star Cortes threw five shutout innings giving up just two hits with eight strikeouts.
Randall was able to get into the playoffs thanks to a big week. The Lady Raiders knocked off Pampa 9-5 on Tuesday and then hustled past Hereford 12-2 on Friday. Randall (24-8 overall, 10-4 in district) will be the No. 2-seed out of the district in Division II.
The Amarillo High Lady Sandies were able to secure a Co-District 3-5A championship with Lubbock Monterey after getting a lopsided 14-4 win against Lubbock-Cooper on Friday. The Lady Sandies finish the regular season at 23-9-1 and 14-2 in league play. AHS has to wait on its Division I seed following the play-in game between Caprock and Lubbock High which is set for 4:30 p.m. Monday in Tulia. In the victory against the Lady Pirates, Lady Sandies slugger Mykaela Samuels doubled and delivered a two-run homer to finish with a game-high five RBIs.
It was a history making afternoon in Childress on Friday as the Lady Bobcats on the programs first ever District 1-3A championship. The Lady Bobcats made that happen by taming Tulia 12-0 at the Childress Softball Complex.
Childress, which finished the season 23-2-1 overall and 9-1 in league play, will be the No. 1-seed out of the district in Division I. Canadian (22-7) will be the No. 2-seed in Division II. Against Tulia, hurler Ansley Parr continued to stake her claim toward District MVP honors throwing a no-hitter over five innings with an eye-opening 14 K’s. She was also added a two-run double. Teammate KJ Felton was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, to tally a pair of RBIs and Journey Prince delivered a two-run home run.
Despite not winning the district championship for the first time in program history, Bushland will be the No. 1-seed in Division I out of District 1-3A. The Lady Falcons out slugged River Road during a wild 31-16 victory at home Friday. Both teams took advantage of the wind blowing dead out as the game saw a total 16 home runs. The Lady Falcons had 10 of those long balls highlighted by Kylee Jordan. Jordan had a career day at the dish going 5-for-5 with three homers and a double to go for a game-high eight RBIs. River Road (17-12) will be the No. 2-seed in Division I.
Sanford-Fritch won the outright District 1-2A championship by coming back to beat Sunray 18-12 on Monday. This game was postponed Friday due to weather, and finished Monday with the Lady Eagles getting the victory. Fritch trailed 12-9 heading into top of the seventh before posting nine runs for the win. Alli Lovejoy was 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Eagles with three RBIs. Sanford-Fritch (13-6-1) will be the No. 1-seed in Division I.
