The final week of the regular season kicked off Tuesday night with teams looking to seal up district championships or playoff seeding across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. Here’s a recap from Tuesday’s action that inlcudes Frenship’s win against Odessa Permian, Shallowater’s road victory against Idalou and Wildorado taking down Kelton.

District 2-6A

It was the Senior Night the Frenship was looking for as the Lady Tigers were able to earn a convincing sweep of Odessa Permian 25-14, 25-13, 25-17, at the Tiger Pit in Wolfforth on Tuesday.

With the victory, Frenship improves to 26-15 on the season and stays in third place at 6-3 in District 2-6A. The Lady Tigers can clinch the top-seed out of Division II in the UIL Class 6A playoffs. The Lady Tigers will close out the regular season with a trip to Odessa High on Friday.

Frenship was in control from the start against Permian (26-13, 2-7) and never let off the gas. Senior standout Bliss Dane had quite the night going out in style in front of the home crowd. Dane knocked down 17 kills and had nine digs coming one dig short of a double-double. It was also a milestone evening for Dane, who celebrated 1,300 career digs.

Dane wasn’t the only player celebrating a grand accomplishment. Teammate Hana Hutcheson ended the match with 15 assists putting the setter over 1,000 for her career. Hutcheson also added six digs. Kayle Upham added to a big passing night with 16 assists and tacked on six digs with four aces. Reese Roberts was strong on the front row with 11 kills and three blocks and libero Emma Harrell was all over the back row getting 16 digs.

In two other scores from the district Tuesday, Midland High took over first place of 2-6A beating rival Midland Legacy 25-20, 25-16, 25-22, and San Angelo Central defeated Odessa High, 25-22, 25-27, 25-21, 25-23.

District 3-5A

There weren’t many changes in District 3-5A on Tuesday night as the playoffs are all but set except for Lubbock-Cooper and Lubbock Coronado’s seeding position in the UIL Class 5A Division II playoffs.

Lubbock-Cooper (23-11) and Coronado (22-16) both won Tuesday with each staying tied for the Division II top spot at 11-4 with one game remaining.

Cooper was able to take care of Lubbock Monterey, 23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-23. Bry Carlile registered a double-double with 19 digs and 11 kills. Broox Lopez handed out 39 assists.

Coronado picked up a four-set win over Lubbock High, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21. Standout Hailee Parrott Curtis was all over the court for the Lady Mustangs going for 17 kills and 13 digs for a double-double.

In other district action, Tascosa swept Palo Duro 25-11, 25-14, 25-20, and Plainview swept Caprock 25-22, 25-21, 25-17.

District 4-4A

The fourth and final playoff spot will have to wait until Saturday’s final day of the regular season. West Plains was able to defeat Dumas and Hereford was able to keep its playoff hopes in tact by going on the road and beating Perryton.

West Plains swept the Demonettes 25-20, 25-17, 25-17, while Hereford swept Perryton 25-12, 25-16, 25-23. Dumas (20-19) is now 7-6 in District 4-4A and Hereford (18-18) is just a game back at 6-7 with one game to play. The Demonettes can clinch the fourth and final playoff berth with a win at Pampa or a Hereford loss to Randall on Saturday. Hereford could force a fourth place tie with a win over Randall and a Pampa win against Dumas.

As for the Lady Wolves (29-11). West Plains, which has already secured the No. 1-seed in the Division I postseason, is now 11-2 in district sitting in a three-way tie for first with Canyon and Randall.

Randall was able to snap a two-game losing skid with a three-set sweep of Pampa, 25-13, 25-18, 25-15, on Tuesday. The Lady Raiders (25-14, 11-2) can clinch a share of the district title with a win against Hereford on Saturday.

Canyon defeated Borger, 25-15, 25-20, 25-19. That puts the Lady Eagles at (21-14) at 11-2 in district. The Lady Eagles will play West Plains on Saturday. If Canyon wins, they will stay in a Division II tie with Randall for the top-seed and clinch a share of the district title. A West Plains victory puts Canyon as the No. 2-seed in the Division II playoffs on top of a Randall win.

District 5-4A

It was a quick night on the court for Frenship Memorial getting a 25-18, 25-17, 25-11, sweep of Lubbock Estacado. Memorial (25-8) are now 9-2 in the league and have secured the No. 1 spot in the Division I playoffs out of the district. Olivia Vilegas had eight kills against Estacado to lead the Lady Panthers and Mackenzie Ivy also went for eight kills and five aces.

In two other scores from Tuesday, Snyder beat San Angelo Lake View 25-23, 25-13, 25-17, and Levelland knocked off Big Spring 16-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-12.

District 2-3A

The Shallowater Fillies are once again the District 2-3A outright champions after defeating rival Idalou 25-22, 25-17, 25-21, on Tuesday night in Idalou.

The Fillies, who have now won back-to-back district championships, are 9-0 in the league and 31-9 on the season. Carli Buckley and Emma Clawson provided the power at the net in the win combining for 27 kills. Buckley had a game-high 14 with Clawson coming in with 13. Aniston Vanatta quarterbacked the offense with 22 assists.

With the loss, the Lady Wildcats (22-15) fell to 6-3 in district and into a third-place tie with Childress. Childress (18-19) handled Tulia at home, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16. Idalou and Childress are both headed to the Division II side of the Class 3A playoffs and are tied heading into Saturday’s regular season finale.

Littlefield also made things interesting by beating Lubbock Talkington on Tuesday, 26-24, 25-23, 25-21. Littlefield (13-18) and Talkington (10-21) are now tied for the No. 2-seed in Division I behind Shallowater with only one game remaining.

District 1-3A

Bushland ran its incredible district win streak to 104 games sweeping River Road, 25-20, 25-15, 25-6. The Lady Falcons, the district champions and No. 1-seed out of Division I, are now 34-8 and 7-0. Laynee Adams had 10 kills with Morgan Eberly and Jaida Scott combining for 40 assists.

Friona had no problems downing Dimmitt 25-11, 25-8, 25-21 on Tuesday. The Squaws (21-7, 4-3) are locked into third place in district and the No. 1-seed in Division II. Aubrey Bunker led the team with 14 kills and Peyton Macfarland added seven kills.

District 1-1A

In one of the bigger games on the docket Tuesday night, Wildorado avenged a loss to Kelton from earlier this year with a home sweep 25-13, 25-19, 25-13, to secure the third and final playoff berth out of District 1-1A.

The Lady Mustangs, who won the league title a year ago, are playoff bound thanks to a fast start against the Lady Lions and never letting up. Wildorado pushes has been hot winners of four straight, pushing their district mark to 8-5 while going to 11-19 on the season. Kelton drops to 14-6, 7-6.

Jami Perkins and Pilar Abalos were key cogs in the win for the Lady Mustangs Tuesday. Perkins earned a double-double with 15 assists and 13 kills while adding seven digs and four aces. Abalos also put together a double-double slamming down 15 kills and dishing out 11 assists with seven digs and five aces.

Teammate Ansley Matt added five kills and eight aces and Ella Moore went for six kills and five aces.

In other district scores Tuesday, Fort Elliott remained unbeaten in the league beating Darrouzett, 25-9, 25-6, 25-6, Miami defeated White Deer, 25-8, 25-11, 25-9 and Shamrock dismantled Channing 25-2, 25-5, 25-5.

District 1-2A

The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles clinched a share of the District 1-2A title with a sweep against West Texas High, 29-27, 25-20, 25-15. The Lady Eagles (20-8) are now 5-0 in district and already the No. 1-seed in Division I. Fritch can clinch the outright district title with a win at Vega on Friday. Emma Williams had a big night against the Lady Comanches with 14 kills to pace the Lady Eagles.

Vega stayed a game back of Sanford-Fritch sweeping Highland Park 25-13, 25-23, 25-22. The Lady Longhorns (17-20, 4-1) can earn a share of the league title with a home win against Fritch on Friday. Vega is already the No. 1-seed in Division II. DJ de Graaf was strong on the back row with 11 digs and Kai’lan Sturgeon played big at the net with 10 kills and four blocks.

TAPPS District 1-2A

San Jacinto Christian Academy brought the fight to Lubbock All Saints, but came up short in a thrilling five-set match 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, 13-25, 13-15. With the victory, All Saints claims the outright district title improving to 13-0 in district and 27-19 on the year.

The Lady Patriots will be the No. 2-seed out of the league at 12-2 and are now 30-6 overall. Despite the loss, Blayne Robison left all she had on the court putting together an unbelievable night with 36 assists and 14 digs for a double-double. Teammate Alayna Daniel did all she could offensively with 21 kills.

In one other district match Tuesday, Southcrest Christian knocked off Ascension Academy, 25-14, 25-4, 25-19.
