The high school volleyball season is now in full swing and District 3-5A continued with a full slate of gmes on Tuesday night. Check out the results from the Texas Panhandle and South Plains teams that saw action from Amarillo High traveling to Lubbock Coronado, Tascosa battling Caprock, and Lubbock-Cooper taking on Palo Duro. In non-district play, West Plains hosted Frenship and Bushland visited Dumas.
District 3-5A
Lubbock-Cooper sweeps Palo Duro
Lubbock-Cooper kept the momentum of winning the San Angelo Tournament championship over the weekend by opening District 3-5A action with a sweep of Palo Duro on Tuesday night.
The Lady Pirates took down the Lady Dons in convincing fashion, 25-21, 25-16, 25-9, at the PD Activity Center.
The win pushes Lubbock-Cooper’s overall record to 12-4 on the year and 1-0 in league play. The Lady Dons drop to 6-9-1 overall and 0-2 in 3-5A.

Broox Lopez facilitated the offense for the Lady Pirates spreading around 28 assists adding three aces. Haley McCallick knocked down 10 kills and Clara Pesterfield went for 19 digs with three aces.
Lubbock-Cooper, which is led by former Amarillo High head coach Mike Moffitt, end tournament season this weekend at the Arlington Showcase. Palo Duro will play at the Randall Lady Raider Showcase.
Amarillo High handles Lubbock Coronado
It was another night at the office for Amarillo High as the Lady Sandies made a trip down I-27 well worth it getting a sweep of Lubbock Coronado, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21, on Tuesday night.
The Lady Sandies used the power of sophomore Harper Vaughn’s triple-double effort. Vaughn was strong on the outside with 11 kills, dished out 18 assists and played outstanding defense getting 11 digs. Kinsler Hanson added a team-high 16 kills and Bennett Rea tallied 18 assists.
Despite the loss, Coronado’s Malory Holdman had 11 assists with five digs and two aces. Teammate Hailee Parrott added 11 kills with four digs.
AHS is now 9-7 overall on the year but more importantly 2-0 in District 3-5A. The Lady Mustangs are 8-8 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Tascosa stays unbeaten in 3-5A sweeping Caprock
Tascosa is off to a strong start in District 3-5A under first-year coach Carley McCracken. The Lady Rebels knocked off crosstown rival Caprock in three-sets, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17, on Tuesday.
The Lady Rebels (11-7) keep pace with Amarillo High at 2-0 in district. Caprock (8-7) falls to 0-2 in District 3-5A.
Berkley Harper paced the Tascosa offense with 14 kills with Addison Merrell handing out 28 assists. Bennet Berryman did her part on the defense getting 17 digs.
Caprock’s Marlene Ramirez had 16 assists with nine digs and Grace Morales finished the night with six digs.
Lubbock Monterey beats Plainview
After a loss last week, Lubbock Monterey was able to bounce back by beating Plainview on the road Tuesday, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20.
The Lady Plainsman saw a big effort from Emmerson Satterfield and Gabbi Garia who combined for 18 kills Satterfield led the outside with 10 kills with Garcia tallying eight. Monterey is now 11-6 on the season and 1-1 in District 3-5A. Plainview is 6-8 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Non-district quick hits
West Plains got back on the right track Tuesday night sweeping Class 6A Frenship at home on Tuesday. The Lady Wolves won in straight sets defeating the Lady Tigers, 25-20, 25-13, 32-30. Kynzie Ward showed off her powerful arm hammering down 19 kills against Frenship. Teammate Aaniyah Kitchen went for 12 kills and six blocks while Idaly Sotelo and Bella Windberg were spectacular on defense combining for 29 digs. Frenship’s Bliss Dane did have a double-double with 14 digs and 11 kills. West Plains is now 13-7 overall on the year.
The Bushland Lady Falcons continue to soar through the non-district portion of the schedule after downing Dumas on the road Tuesday night, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15. Berklee Billington has been a shining light early in the season and that happened once again Tuesday as Billington registered 14 kills. Ava Permenter was electric on defense with 30 digs and Morgan Eberly went for 20 assists. Sophie Clements of Dumas did have 14 assists. Bushland pushes its record to an impressive 19-3 overall. Dumas drops to 10-7.
Not many teams are playing better than Lubbock-Cooper Liberty. The Lady Patriots won a big-time showdown with Shallowater on Tuesday getting a 25-23, 25-14, 25-23, victory. Lubbock-Cooper Liberty is now 18-1 overall in only year two of the program. Shallowater drops to 14-2 overall. Lexie Allgood was played a huge role in the win with 18 kills for the Lady Patriots. Beeler Campbell had 12 digs. Shallowater’s Emma Clawson did have eight kills with three digs.
It was a great night for the Hereford Lady Whitefaces winning a pair of home matches during a triangular Tuesday. The Lady Whitefaces defeated Dalhart 25-21, 25-14, 25-22 and Wildorado 25-15, 25-11, 25-5. Lexi Vallejo combined for 21 kills in the pair of wins. Teagan Thomas had a total of 29 digs between the two matches. Hereford is now 11-10 on the season.
The San Jacinto Lady Patriots defeated Friona in a sweeping fashion Tuesday, 25-21, 25-22, 25-9. The Lady Patriots are now 12-3 to kick off the 2025 season. Blayne Robison was spectacular dishing out 34 assists against the Squaws. Alayna Daniel benefited with 15 kills and Jaxsyn Amero had a superb serving night with four aces.
Highland Park picked up a sweep over Shamrock 25-18, 25-16, 27-25. The Lady Hornets (7-7 overall) saw J’Niyah Hern go for 17 kills and Mykhua Sanchez pass around 14 assists. Teammate Aliyah Robinson had a team-high seven kills.
Frenship Memorial downed Lubbock Talkington thanks to a three-set sweep, 25-13, 25-14, 25-22. The Lady Panthers are now 11-3 in the first year of the program. Olivia Villegas had 10 kills with three blocks. Teammate Brooklyn Davis added 14 assists with four digs.
In a battle of Hutchinson County, Sanford-Fritch took down Borger in five-sets, 26-24, 16-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-9, on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles move to 7-5 overall with the victory. Emma Williams was key in the win with 17 kills. Lincoln Bidwell did her job at the net with seven blocks and Bryleigh Carr had 15 digs.
