Early Career, Big Moments, and Team Surprises

In just her second year of coaching, Sydney Trayler is already making memories at Borger High School.

Her most unforgettable moment so far? Being surprised with a mini birthday party by her team at a tournament—a testament to the close-knit culture she’s building.

Dumas stands out as the toughest opponent she’s faced, pushing her teams to compete at their best.

Chalk Lines, Cakes, and Competitive Drive

Coach Trayler has a playful superstition: she never steps on the chalk line on game day. Off the field, she’s a creative soul who loves decorating birthday cakes.

Her favorite pre-game meal is an Apple Pecan Salad from Wendy’s, and if she weren’t coaching, she’d be working in marketing for a sports team.

The best advice she’s received? “Raising the standard of your game starts with raising the standard of your practice.”

Competitive, Dedicated, and Energetic

Described by her team as competitive, dedicated, and energetic, Coach Trayler leads by example.

Her favorite sports movie is A League of Their Own, and TikTok is her go-to social media platform.

In her office, you’ll hear instrumental pop music setting the mood for game prep and planning.

Coaching Philosophy: Perseverance and Giving Your All

Sports have taught Coach Trayler the power of perseverance—when things get tough, keep going.

Her coaching motto: “You get out of it what you put into it, so give it your all!”

She believes the Texas Panhandle is one of the toughest districts in the state, with teams that can compete at the highest level.

This season, her goals are to be better than when they started and to make the playoffs.

Field Practice, Offense, and Community Culture

Coach Trayler prefers field practice over film study, focuses on offense, and loves running “every day’s” drills to keep her team sharp.

For her, the best part about coaching in Borger is the culture—the support, the camaraderie, and the drive to get better together.
